@InfiniTokens @joelaremagic Totally an event organizer call but I think this is pretty sweet. For me, part of having the older cards is the wear that they show. A ding from 30 years ago that a kid made on an Island as they shoved it into a binder. I like a little "patina" on my cardboard.

Premodern players, stupid question I think but I can play with the cheapest copies of cards, right? The OGs are just more desirable?

@joelaremagic Short answer: yes. Long answer: OG versions were heavily encouraged/required by some early on, but as the format took off, it became less practical.

@AndyMcCrimmon @joelaremagic The solution to the scalpers problem is not making the scalpers make a little bit less money: They will still make money via volume and still scalp. It will just hurt the players who manage to get it. Each player could scalp one or two at most. They were not the majority.

@joelaremagic As someone who got the Lair, and who buys a lot of sealed product, I really object to the idea that price should be used as a main mechanism to squash demand.

@joelaremagic I was in line for this, it said it was my turn, I selected my product and paid, got a split second confirmation page, then was kicked and said product sold out

@joelaremagic @osovos_jay He means that players complaining that a SL was too cheap is going to help those who decide prices to justify making Lairs more expensive. And it won't stop scalping anyway. A Secret Lair that actually had value to match the price was amazing. Do we not want that...?

@joelaremagic The solution to scalping isn't charging more... that just hurts players and the scalpers buy them up anyway. They might make a little less profit, but will still profit. If it costs $99 and scalpers sell for $200, or costs $150 and the scalpers sell for $200, players still lose.

@PauperPapi @joelaremagic With this set, that would have been great. More people would have access to something different, and DanDan players could still get the art even if they weren't fast enough (or get errors in checkout, like so many did), they would just need to wait.

@Be_Hadrien Congratulations! I'm not a creator, but I enjoy working with them. So many of them are wonderful people. Behold, the pegasus token art-off between Olivia Gobert-Hicks and the Prof on Shuffle Up & Play!

@Metallix87 @SaffronOlive Without asking the team themselves it's hard to say, anyway. But I'm not sure if the results speak for themselves. We don't know who purchased, besides the scalpers. Not being PoD is because they almost never do that anymore. Was the last one the Sheldon charity set?

I find the idea that the problem with the DanDan Secret Lair drop was that it was too cheap hilarious. The issue is players not being able to get the cards are a reasonable price, increasing the cost quite literally does the opposite.

"I think this is a premium, limited printing product for people who are already fans of the format." This was not the only reason. If that was the only reason, then it would have been only the art cards (since DanDan players already have the rest). And for the tournament, they could have filled out the rest with the old cards. It would have looked exactly the same from the outside. They are just reprints. That is a strong indication that it was ALSO for people who wanted to try DanDan.

@InfiniTokens @SaffronOlive I'm not sure what you're saying. They said it's for fans of the format. They also said it was also for that tournament.
