@GraceLP Not all bookstores want to do this but it’s nice to be able to direct readers to an indie AND be able to offer a bookstore guaranteed sales. If the bookstore says yes I always tell readers to email me asap so I know they placed the order and can go in to sign.

@GraceLP If you have fans interested in signed copies, you might reach out and ask if they’d be interested in fulfilling. You might say, I have x readers who are interested in ordering a signed copy, If they place an order w you, could you hold the books so I can sign before shipping?

Every day before I get out of bed, I cold message two new people that I admire. It never takes me more than 5 minutes. I've been doing this every morning for years, and it has gotten me: - 4 internships - my first full time PM job - my first investor in my business - a self-made female billionaire to fly me out to her office for a private meeting - 3 new best friends - an invitation to an exclusive founder retreat sponsored by Nike - and my first five-figure brand deal! Curious to see what a cold message like this looks like? DM me and I’ll send it to you!

I love spotting whimsy in everyday life, and I got a big kick out of seeing this boom lift painted with a giraffe-hide pattern. The equipment really did create the impression of a very tall giraffe reaching out to munch some leaves.

@morninggloria Hardboiled Wonderland is the weirdest book I’ve ever read - read it years ago and I still regularly get weird flashbacks from it.

@ingridfetell I think in a time where we’re facing seriously arming them with mental healthy strategies, the study helps them figure out why the things that give them joy do so, and then build those resources.

#TVDSBLiteracy I just randomly read @ingridfetell ‘s Joyful to students to help them curate exuberance for themselves. They connect to it over and over in class, then report how they ‘had to’ bring it up in other classes.

@ibogost I get the criticisms of the vacuums but the hair styler thing is amazing. It’s much quieter than a regular hairdryer and does the job in half the time.

If you're looking to tackle a fear of heights with exposure therapy, you might want to check out the Vessel, an art installation in a park in Hudson Yards, NYC. It's 154 interlocking flights of stairs going in every direction, and it's open to the public.

Imagine: someone finally gets free of the attention-sucking machinations of their phone long enough to look up at the sky… and immediately sees an ad telling them to spend more time looking at their phone.

The comments are full of things like “you should’ve had them give back to the community” suggesting college students “already do plenty for themselves” and it just hits home for me how much we as a society can’t tolerate people just enjoying themselves.

Our parents were potpourri-loving maximalist clutter freaks so we reacted by painting everything that could be painted white, and everything else we made clean and slick, and now we have to admit: we went too far. Our spaces are charmless.
