@JCigan @HoopsReference @stashrebirth You're overestimating your comprehension skills. Nobody said they made the rule for Embiid. The OP mentions how everyone cried b4 the rule saying he didn't deserve it, rejoiced in spite of him after the rule was made, and now are crying because their favorite player is affected.

The literal only thing that is changing these people’s minds is them seeing the rule affect their favorite players. Every single one of them cheered the rule being made when they thought it would only affect Joel Embiid.

@AaronGOEAGLES @HoopsReference @stashrebirth Multiple people ITT have said exactly that about the rule being implemented bc of Embiid, and your last reply sounded like you were saying the same. Brett likes Embiid too I can’t think of any polite way to say my remaining thoughts. Done going in circles at any rate.

@CraigMu29776942 @AaronGOEAGLES @HoopsReference @stashrebirth The source of the rule was teams load-managing stars, resting them when they were healthy enough to play. Kawhi was the most-cited example, he did it way more often than Embiid did. The league didn’t have any vested interest in who “won” between Jokic and Embiid

@CraigMu29776942 @AaronGOEAGLES @HoopsReference @stashrebirth You’re a Sixers fan suffering from the same affliction as the others in this thread, a kind of mass psychosis about how important your team and your twitter arguments are to what goes on in the NBA. When all 29 other fan bases disagree w you you’re probably just being a homer

@AaronGOEAGLES @HoopsReference @stashrebirth Overestimating how meaningful a bunch of Twitter battles you chose to fight were to everyone else lol. The rule wasn’t implemented to spite Embiid. None of this makes any sense and people in this thread are dragging Brett over absolutely nothing

@JCigan @HoopsReference @stashrebirth Because literally everyone was on this app CRYING about the amount of games he missed and said he didn't deserve MVP, then cheered when the rule was implemented to spite Embiid. Us sixers fans remember so much because we were on here fighting battles everyday after he won.

@AaronGOEAGLES @HoopsReference @stashrebirth I’m just questioning how Embiid even factors in. He was never impacted by the rules and his MVP season wouldn’t have been impacted by them if they had been in place then. And the answer to that question is just Sixers fans thinking the universe revolves around them

@JCigan @HoopsReference @stashrebirth Lol 'cleared'? he played 66 games and at the time people didnt have the number 65 they were just complaining about how many games Embiid missed since Jokic didn't get it.

@TheSyndicate_12 @HoopsReference I articulated my points clearly But I’m talking to someone who presses “send tweet” on things like this so I shouldn’t expect much in the way of intelligence or reading comprehension I guess

You guys hate this but espn broadcasts to 24 million people Niche content is for niche audiences and this is not that You guys don’t want detailed medical reports on espn airwaves you want reasons to complain and interact and today you got that
Jason Cigan@JCigan

@bansky Then surely you know it speaks to ability to communicate to people what they want to hear. And that someone who’s created a platform like that could well succeed with it on a major network Don’t get what you were hating on Dr Sutterer for. Seemed like gatekeeping.

@LilBeanDip5012 @bansky I don’t see what the issue is. “So my colleague shams reported Cade has a collapsed lung. Here is what to know and expect with that diagnosis:” etc. And I am all for athletes being involved like that too. I just think Prime has picked better ones for that job than ESPN has.

@JCigan @bansky The problem I think espn might have is doctors and medical speculation might make lawyers nervous. I think if ESPN would use athlete to break down sports it would help close the knowledge gap and let fans understand the games at a deeper level.

Hot take: “medical experts” making firm diagnosis with 3% of the information and 13 seconds of video is irresponsible and more self serving than some crusade of accurate information for fans lol

@TheSyndicate_12 @HoopsReference Cade playing 61 games and leading his team to a dominant season before a late injury should really be enough for second team. Taking it out of voters’ hands like this isn’t great. It’s probably the biggest bummer of an example we’ve seen in these three seasons

@TheSyndicate_12 @HoopsReference My point is seeing some reasons guys end up under 65 games is giving some people who supported the rule change second thoughts. I never supported the limit bc I felt load management was valid and that voters already took games played into account. But I get why ppl would switch

@LancCityCoach @HoopsReference Let’s not get into revisionism. The Clippers’ two stars were always the poster children for load management criticisms. Embiid got some of that talk too sure, but Kawhi had been load managing since 2018-19 and Embiid was over 65 games anyway the year he won MVP.

@JCigan @HoopsReference It would be disingenuous to active if a large portion of the discourse was about him, especially during the him vs Joker discourse. He was the main focal point of the criticism. Even though others like KL were worse offenders. He became the poster child for the rule.

@MGRADS Agree. Voters were always taking # of games played into account anyway. And load management isn’t even the topmost concern for quality of the product anymore - tanking and soft tissue injuries to stars are much worse rn

We need to change this 65 game rule. We need to stop listening to people who can’t make a left hand layup and say “hey, I have an idea…”

@HoopsReference @stashrebirth Huh? Embiid cleared the 65-game mark his MVP season anyway, and the rule change was because of the loss of viewership from stars skipping games. If anything the clippers with PG and Kawhi were more of the reason

@LilBeanDip5012 @bansky My stance is that interest in how badly the superstar on the top seed in the east is injured is a mainstream, not niche, thing among NBA followers And no need to speculate. Doctors can go off his publicized diagnosis and say what can be generally expected with that
