Xander on Aaron Rai: "Rarely do you feel like people work way harder than you ... "I feel like I've played a pretty good amount of time, and Aaron is always there. He's always in the gym. He's always on the range. "At the Scottish, I'm staying right on site there. I thought it was fun for Austin and I to go putt. Aaron is finishing up his little putting session at 9:00 p.m. and going to the gym at 9:45. "This was three years ago. I think that's what it's about to be a major champion. You puts the work in when nobody's looking. Super pumped for him and his team."

A lot of traders already know exactly what they’re doing wrong. The problem is they keep trying to solve emotional patterns with more technical rules.

Some thoughts for you @Joshua0rnelas
JoshuaOrnelas@Joshua0rnelas

@jaredtendler The biggest problem for me is telling myself I am not gonna do something and then I still do it anyway. It has been a cycle for some time now. I feel like I am actually a pretty disciplined person however, so it just makes me feel really conflicted or like I am not doing enough

True of any highly competitive industry - trading and poker especially.
Monday Q Info@acaseofthegolf1

Example number #1897 that pro golf is a process for 99% of players: In 2022 Kristoffer Reitan was ranked 1945th in the world. That year his BEST was T66. He considered quitting the game. He was 4 years into his pro career and struggling badly. Just 2 years ago, six years into his pro career Reitan was on Hotel Planner Tour and still near 1100th in owgr to start the year. Now a Signature event winner, will be top 25 in the world, and just took down many of the top players in the world.

How do you clean up your perspective? Try clearly describing a problem you’re having? Take a minute right now to describe the biggest thing you’re struggling with or want to improve. If you can’t easily do that in 1 or 2 sentences, this is a big reason you’re struggling.

What if the biggest obstacle to improving your mental game isn't the problem you think you have — but the way you're looking at it? Your perspective shapes how you see yourself, the markets, your opponents, and how you view your problems.

Trying out some new content - if you want me to respond to your fault, whether in golf, poker or trading, @ me or reply to this post... Tournaments can easily force your mind to pay too much attention to score. I don't think the ultimate goal is to not think about score at all. Score matters. We ought not shy away from that reality and instead acclimate to the emphasis on score in tournaments, simply as information. Not letting it distract us from what we have firm control of: process, shot-selection, commitment, focus, adaptation, execution. Here are some thoughts on this, including a game which really help you practice focusing more on process than score. #golf #golfpsychology #mentalgame

@joshlukenichols @practicalgolf Thanks Josh! That's super cool to hear. Heck yeah, I'm down for round 2 - can't believe it was 5 years ago! Btw, I sent you a DM a few weeks ago, I think something odd is happening with my DMs - I'm guessing you didn't see it.

@jaredtendler @practicalgolf You finally did it Jared! Been waiting a long time for a golf book from you. The poker books had a fundamental effect on how I think/play/coach. Can’t wait to read this one. Gonna need you on for a round 2 of the podcast (more than 5 years later!)

If you are serious about your golf game, you should check out @jaredtendler new book, Everyday Golf Psychology. It provides actionable advice on many common problems golfers face. But the reason I think it's a must-read is that this isn't the same old generic info. He goes deeper than just surface-level advice. This is easily one of my favorite golf books ever, and I think it's really going to help people. Great job, Jared! Link to purchase below 👇
