These are all "in the margin of error" and where the whims of the committee control. Anything is possible with this group. Maybe committee loves San Diego St and wants another Mountain West. Maybe they love or hate Sean Miller. SMU and BJ Edwards. Have VCU/USF done enough?

As we head to Sunday, here is where my predictive formulas put the actual bubble. Up to 4 (with two auto bids) or as few as 2 of these 5 would be my prediction to make. Last year, WV was only one with a score better than 45.0 to miss; all the makes were under 50.0.

My formulas say Florida was the final 1 seed but narrowly over UConn and Houston. If I plug in results I get the following with a Florida loss: -UConn win: they are 1 seed -UConn loss, Houston win: Houston is 1 seed -both UConn and Houston lose: tie between UConn/Fla for 1

@LotharKing 10 of 15 games were Under, 15 of the 30 teams (across 15 games) scored under 60 points, 5 scored under 50. Anything can be considered noise over a small sample here, have to decide if the change is meaningful. Who knows if we will ever get statistically rigorous sample.

@JasonLisk The women played their tourney already on the same floor. Curious if their will be any takeaways between the two events compared to previous yrs. Or if everything could be waved away as "statistical noise".

@Aggieguy2019 @PoolGenius @TeamRankings I think it is overemphasizing some strength of schedule factors, particularly non-conf SOS (Hence Auburn also). Aggies are in the top 40 in NET, ESPN's Strength of Record, and in number of quality Quad 1 wins. They should be in good shape as long as they are better than 44 there.

@PoolGenius A&M is currently in the last four byes, but on the website only has a 26.3% chance of making the tournament. What am I missing in the formula. Been following for a while and seems like A&M’s odds have been lower than the general consensus @TeamRankings

@Sophisti88 @nickbateman33 I don't think it will cost much because my bracket projections are based on future schedule, which builds in a likely loss by the odds. If they win, I think they are locked in as a 6 seed or better depending on how next week goes.

One of the biggest shocks of Selection Sunday in 2025 was Louisville getting an 8 seed They were 11th in SOR and 19th on Torvik with a 15-7 record vs Q1+2 opponents (basically identical to 2026 Alabama (projected 4 seed)) But they didn't pick up their first Q1-A win until the ACC semifinals against Clemson - 2 days before Selection Sunday. The majority of people confidently projected a 6 seed, some people thought a 5 was in the cards. They got an 8. One year later and Louisville is 0-8 vs Q1-A opponents and people are projecting them to be a 5 or 6 seed again. Can't make it up lol. If they don't beat Miami this Saturday or win the ACC tournament I'm willing to bet they'll be "shockingly under-seeded" again.
