Colorado is targeting New Mexico AD Fernando Lovo in its athletic director search, sources tell @YahooSports. No deal is finalized and UC Board of Regents must authorize any move. Lovo spent the last year at UNM after stints at Texas, Ohio State and Houston.

Tom Izzo was asked about James Nnaji enrolling at Baylor. Nnaji, 21, was selected 31st in the 2023 NBA Draft but he never signed an NBA contract, choosing instead to play professionally in Europe, before appearing with the Knicks in the 2025 Summer League. Here's Izzo's answer:

- Transfer portal moved to end of spring ✅ The lowest-hanging fruit for all divisions to adopt. Values education through a full academic year at one institution, better supports progress toward degree across all levels, allows athletes time to make significant athletic and academic decisions, and respects the football calendar for FBS, FCS (and many D2/D3) programs. Yet, this fall, that option was bypassed and Jan. 2–16 was chosen instead. How is that a better outcome? - Agent certification (for all of college sports) ✅ There are agents, and then there are “agents.” Too many athletes w/ broken dreams and poor educational/life outcomes after partnering with individuals focused on volume of portal entries rather than the best long-term interests of those they represent.

What am I missing…where are the blinders? No particular order. Obviously easier said than done but solutions exist. - FBS no longer under NCAA (understand NCAA takes brunt of litigation…we can stop the bleeding) - FBS commissioner - If split division, promotion and relegation - Expand CFP - Move bowl games to zero week - Unite media rights - Transfer portal moved to end of spring - Spring ball moved to July - Collective bargaining - True cap…no more money through front AND back door - Authentic NIL done by SAs as wanted/needed…not run through departments - To become an FBS agent, you must complete a certification process Always a solution...at minimum worth a discussion. The front porch of our communities and states have too much value…we represent something bigger than ourselves 🙏🏼 Reset the table. Our “why” is still to prepare student-athletes for life! 🎓 Insanity isn’t the solution. The bottom is when you stop digging 😈
