Abe was a true inspiration to everyone in the Jewish community and beyond. Today, we lost an extraordinary voice and an extraordinary man. Abe Foxman was a Holocaust survivor who dedicated his life to fighting antisemitism, hatred, and bigotry in all forms. He had the respect of presidents and world leaders. But what I’ll remember most is that he was also a deeply caring friend who loved the Jewish people, his family, and his community with all his heart. Abe understood that hatred doesn’t begin with violence. It begins with words, silence, and indifference. He spent his life refusing to stay silent.
