As a 48-year old, the Oilers being on the verge of winning the Stanley Cup has me feeling as if I’m 8 years old again, the first time they won. And a not so subtle reminder of how fast life passes. It’s hard to articulate the feeling but I wonder if anyone else can relate?

The Draisaitl injury could be a blessing in disguise for both the players and coaching staff. The players can no longer rely on him (and McDavid), they have to up their game, they don’t have a choice. It forces the coaching staff to do the same. Give more ice time to others.

@Archaeologuy I’m curious to hear the breakdown. 10k visitors per game including team personnel and media would be my starting guess. If you put a lower bound at 5k and upper bound at 20k we arrive at 50k-200k room nights.

UPDATE: The World Cup of Hockey is expected to generate about $375 million in economic impact for Alberta, supporting more than 43,000 jobs and filling nearly 172,000 hotel rooms while drawing international visitors and global media attention. Calgary will host seven games at Scotia Place, including six round-robin and one elimination matchup, while the two semifinals and championship game will take place at Rogers Place in Edmonton.
