Trump said: "An entire civilization will die tonight." We declare our solidarity with the people of Iran. The working class of the world must oppose this monstrous crime. It must be stopped.

On Saturday I visited the Palace of Justice in Nuremberg, where leaders of the Third Reich were tried after World War II for "crimes against peace." Trump and his henchmen who have launched a war of aggression against Iran are committing the same grave crime.

Yesterday I presented the new German-language edition of Mehring Verlag's Wohin geht Amerika, Faschismus oder Sozialismus? [Where is America Going: to Fascism or Socialism] at the Leipzig Book Fair. There was immense interest in the book, reflecting concern over US developments.

The NY Times, organ of the Democrats, cynically editorializes: "There is a reasonable debate to have about the wisdom of this war...Mr. Trump could make a fact-based argument for confronting the regime now...We are skeptical, but we acknowledge that there is a case to be made."

The US Navy’s torpedoing of the unarmed Iranian frigate IRIS Dena in the Indian Ocean is a war crime. For all the “warrior” braggadocio of the fascist Hegseth, it will be remembered in naval history as an act that was as cowardly as it was vicious. wsws.org/en/articles/20…

The Trump administration and the US ruling class has lost all sense of reality. Demanding the "unconditional surrender" of Iran, Trump is driving the United States toward an unavoidable catastrophe.

Trump said yesterday, "I have to be involved in the appointment" of the next leader of Iran. Guess who he has in mind? America's Oligarchy has turned power over to a delusional megalomaniac.

Britain’s participation in the war against Iran is criminal. This is an illegal war for regime change, waged against an oppressed country. Once again, a Labour government staffed by political criminals is dragging the country into a US-led war for oil. What is needed is a fight for socialist internationalism among workers of all countries. Not moral appeals to a Labour government which has none. Contact the Socialist Equality Party, join us and take up the fight of your lives. #NoWarOnIran #Socialism

These were wildcat strikes against the collaboration of the UAW bureaucracy, fueled also by the hatred of the Vietnam War among workers. Fain hails these strikes but says nothing about the UAW collaboration on the shutdown of the plant after 2019 contract sellout and his own collusion in the layoffs at the battery plant.

On this day in 1972, around 7,800 UAW Local 1112 members at General Motors' iconic Lordstown Assembly plant in Ohio walked off the job in a three-week strike that sparked a national debate over workers' quality of life on the assembly line and the relentless yet monotonous nature of manufacturing work. The Lordstown plant produced the subcompact Chevy Vega - GM's answer to the smaller, more affordable foreign imports that were flooding the U.S. market at the time. The Lordstown facility was considered the most automated and efficient factory in the world. Rather than assembling 55 vehicles per hour as was typical of most plants at the time, Lordstown workers were expected to churn out a staggering 100 per hour. Workers at the plant argued that the new technology wasn't actually making jobs more efficient, but rather, the company was using automation as an excuse to slash jobs, overload the remaining jobs with more work, and speed up the assembly line to a breakneck pace, causing quality and safety issues. Disagreements between the two parties began the previous October, after assembly operations at the facility were consolidated under GM's Assembly Division (GMAD) the previous October, headed by a management team with a reputation for toughness in cutting costs and increasing productivity. Leading up to the strike, the company had eliminated more than 800 jobs out of the plant while still demanding record output. After the GMAD workforce reductions, each worker had only 36 seconds to complete work, rather than the standard 60, pushing them to a breaking point that led to the walkout. After three weeks on the picket lines and over $140 million in lost profits for the company, the UAW and GM reached an agreement that brought all previously laid-off workers back to work, cleared the records of all workers previously disciplined for job-related problems, and paid them for time lost. Wrote the America's Work Force Union Podcast last year: GM Workers at Lordstown "sought workplace democracy, fulfillment, and dignity - concepts that resonated beyond traditional labor narratives. Their actions demonstrated that even well-compensated jobs could be subject to criticism and demands for improvement, setting a new standard for worker expectations.” Jason Resnikoff, Assistant Professor of Contemporary History at the University of Groningen, joined the podcast last year to discuss the strike at Lordstown and how that fight is still relevant to today's labor landscape. 🔉ow.ly/qXYk50YoITT
