Thrilled to announce our new #PLOSONE paper! 🥳 My brilliant co-authors (@chiara_bonacchi and @maltaweel5) and I examine references to the past in polarised discourse online, a study which feels more important than ever in our current sociopolitical climate.

#PLOSONE: Political uses of the ancient past on social media are predominantly negative and extreme Our new study, co-led with @maltaweel5 and @jess_witte uses dictionary-based, machine learning and manual coding methods to assess emotion dx.plos.org/10.1371/journa…

@Ryanair my bag was lost on a flight Tuesday. the staff member at baggage claim REFUSED to file a PIR (this feels illegal?) and I cannot get in touch with anyone at the airport (phone lines all apparently unstaffed). Ryanair helpline/chat refuse to help. What do I do?

So happy to be involved in this outstanding work with @chiara_bonacchi and @jess_witte. Given recent events, this work is timely showing how the past can evoke such strong emotions online

The most underrated skill in digital humanities and everything under that umbrella is not actually being able to code anything but the ability to read an error and figure out what it means, how to fix it: this thought brought to you by having to confidence-check a PHP question
