We had the best day ever! My lovely Empower group traveled to Indigo to purchase books 📚 to celebrate their success as readers this semester. Thank you so much for making it possible Mr. Macdonald @Napanee_Hawks! I’m so proud of these kiddos! Definitely filled my cup today!

"In kids studies show that tracing out ABCs, as opposed to typing them, leads to better & longer-lasting recognition & understanding of letters. In adults, taking notes by hand during a lecture...can lead to better conceptual understanding of material" npr.org/sections/healt…

@KrisWestcott1 The basic finding is that working memory capacity can't be increased by much, if at all. We make our students smarter by enriching what is in long-term memory, so they can do more sophisticated things in their limited working memory.

Who is “she”? We can't assume that children always know what a particular pronoun refers to when reading or listening to reading. This study with children in K is one of many suggesting that teaching children to infer reference helps them get better at it: psycnet.apa.org/record/2021-51…

A cool study focusing on student advocacy and the use of assistive tech. Paige is looking for kids from Grades 7-10 students with an LD who have experience with assistive tech. Click here to find out more. All participants get invited to an AT workshop! rotman.az1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_e4…

All students need to develop #SelfAdvocacy skills, but for students with #LDs these skills are critical to be able to communicate learning needs and required accommodations. #LDmonth is a great time to learn how to help your students learn to advocate: ldatschool.ca/learning-modul…

I'm not sure who needs to hear this but, Tier 2 & Tier 3 should be given in addition to Tier 1 not instead of 1. When we say that it is ok for a student to miss or to not participate in x or y activity b/c= they are receiving Tier 2 or Tier 3 we are handicapping the intervention

‘I do, we do, you do’ is something all teachers should follow. But it is misleading… It’s more like; I do, I do, we do, we do, we do, we do, we do, we do, we do, then most of you do, while we do, we do, then all of you do. Did I mention ‘we do’ enough?
