The British govt must step up & deliver urgent support for households & businesses struggling with rising energy costs. Families across the north are under real pressure, especially those reliant on home heating oil. While money is found to fund weapons of war & mass destruction, workers, families & small businesses are left in the lurch. A collective voice is needed to demand immediate action & Sinn Féin MPs have joined with others from the north to make that case.

The British Government is set to spend an extra £13.4 billion a year on weapons of war, while completely failing families here struggling with the cost of living crisis. The British government have a clear choice. And they’ve chosen war over helping workers, families, & local businesses. Sinn Féin will keep standing up for families, pushing for a cut in fuel tax & a serious support package as heating, diesel, & petrol costs soar.

North Belfast is proudly home to many incredible landmarks with deep historical & cultural significance. I was delighted to join Belfast Buildings Trust as it marked two milestones: 30 years of its fantastic work & 150 years of Carlisle Memorial Church. The organisation was established to preserve the integrity of some of our city’s most iconic buildings & protect them from falling into disrepair. As well as attracting visitors & boosting tourism, these buildings have become beacons of hope, opportunity, regeneration & community-led development. I want to thank Belfast Buildings Trust for its ongoing work in maintaining these hugely important spaces so they can be cherished generations to come.

I am delighted that £3.75 million in funding has been secured to transform three buildings in north Belfast to drive economic regeneration. These new sites will be an incredible driver for our local economy, helping to create more jobs & enabling new businesses to flourish in the heart of north Belfast. I want to commend Minister Caoimhe Archibald & North City Business Centre who worked hard to secure this vital funding, which will provide a great boost to our community. I look forward to seeing these buildings transformed & to local workers and families reaping the rewards ahead.

It is time to begin planning & preparing for a new, united Ireland. Westminster has never served, & will never serve, the best interests of workers, families & public services here. Only by taking control of our own affairs, with all decisions made at home, can we realise our full potential.

At Easter, we remember the generations of republicans who bravely stepped forward in the unwavering belief in an independent & sovereign Ireland. It was a privilege to address today’s commemoration in Monaghan. In communities across the island, there is growing momentum for a stronger & united Ireland. A new Republic that prioritises the needs & aspirations of workers, families & communities. We must seize this opportunity. An Phoblacht Abú!

It was an honour to address north Belfast republicans today as we gathered in Bawnmore to remember our patriot dead. At Easter, we commemorate those who those went before us, drawing strength from their courage & vision. The Proclamation of 1916 remains as relevant today as it was 110 years ago, in its call for an independent & sovereign Ireland that cherishes all its people equally. Real & historic change is again taking place on our island. The opportunities before our generation are immense. We are the generation that can build a new & united Ireland, a nation that places the best interests of workers, families & communities at its heart.

Infrastructure Minister Liz Kimmins is working to make it illegal to overtake a bus that has stopped, alongside other safety measures. Too many families have had their lives devastated by the loss of a child on our roads. We are determined to do everything we can to keep children safe & prevent further tragedies.

Last league game of 2026 and it’s a repeat of last year’s All Ireland to see who are Division 1 champions. Great game in store!

I am relieved that summer schemes for children with special educational needs are going ahead. But it should never have come to this point. The angst caused among families was unacceptable & unnecessary. The Education & Health Ministers must now come forward to explain who made this decision, why, & give a guarantee this same mistake will never again be repeated.

Ensuring young people have access to first-class facilities is a top priority for Sinn Féin. I was delighted to join First Minister Michelle O’Neill on a visit to Ardoyne Youth Enterprise’s new site on the Crumlin Road, as work begins on its state-of-the-art building. This will be a fantastic & much-needed addition to north Belfast, providing an excellent space for young people to learn & develop their skills. The power of youth work must be properly supported & invested in across all our communities, & we’ll continue making that case.

I am deeply shocked & saddened to learn that an elderly woman has died following a fatal collision in Ardoyne yesterday. This tragedy has stunned the entire community, & my heart goes out to her family at this devastating time. I would urge anyone who may have witnessed the collision to contact the police.

Sinn Féin minister Caoimhe Archibald has confirmed that parents bereaved as a result of miscarriage will be able to access paid leave from 6 April. This is a progressive & compassionate step, providing support during one of the most difficult & heartbreaking experiences anyone can face. We will continue to do all we can to support parents, including working to introduce paid leave during neonatal care.

The “witch-hunt” claim is a myth & the facts expose it. Families deserve truth & accountability. Amnesty proposals should be rejected outright. Important piece today by Prof Kieran McEvoy. irishtimes.com/opinion/2026/0…

It was fantastic to visit Ardoyne Bone Community Health & Leisure Trust’s outstanding new hub. This first-class health & wellbeing facility is a real asset to the north Belfast community, providing a home for sport, fitness, education & wider community activities. I want to commend Elaine & the entire team who worked tirelessly to secure the investment for this project. It has given a new lease of life to Ardoyne & created a space we can all be proud of.
