The deepest miracle is not spectacle. It’s sight. Jesus makes us see — through the gifts, through the goods, through the “sour wine” — until we finally see him. desiringgod.org/articles/see-t…

Fact: You will have tribulation in this world. Exhortation: Take heart. Bigger fact: Jesus has overcome the world.

Peter fell hard. Judas fell finally. What made the difference? Not Peter’s resolve — but Jesus’s prayer. When a death-defying Savior prays that your faith would not fail, it does not fail. desiringgod.org/articles/when-…

John, more than the other Gospels, seems to feature the weaknesses of the disciples. There’s a message in it.

You don’t lose Jesus because you’re weak. The disciples were confused, overconfident, and about to scatter… and Jesus still said: “I want you to have peace.” He doesn’t give up on his people. Ever.

I can taste all of the pleasures Write a melody inclined Fill my house with golden treasures All I'm filling up is time 'Til the waking of the sadness Comes a knocking at my door Saying you ain't crossed the ocean Son, you ain't even seen the shore – William Rinehart

The world is overrun with foolishness and consumed by hate. Father, give us wisdom and love — not of this world, but in it, according to your will. To lies, we speak your truth. To rage, we extend your mercy: whoever turns from sin and trusts in Christ will be saved.

Jesus himself shows us what abiding looks like. John 15:10. He lived with his heart continually turned toward the Father — seeking his will, receiving his words, joining his work. In a word: obedience.

Major League Baseball is aired in the morning for Japan. So technically they eat breakfast with it being on television. Here’s their #openingday commercial. No hyperbole, when I say this, it might be greater than any US MLB commercial I’ve seen. Well done and worth the watch for any baseball fan.

In Acts, opposition often rises not just because of the message itself, but because of what the message disrupts — influence (Acts 5:17; 13:45), income (Acts 16:19; 19:23–27), identity (Acts 19:26–28), and control (Acts 4:1–3; 5:28). But still, it is suffering for Christ! It is bound up with his name, his mission, and the nature of his church.
