Angela Rayner should be wary of putting own ambitions ahead of voters' interests… they will decide what is 'Un-British'. My column for Friday's @TheSun. Link to full article here ⬇️ thesun.co.uk/news/38573560/…

Hugely inspiring evening listening to the October 7 hostage @ArgamaniNoa - who the whole world saw taken captive from the Nova festival - talking with @jonsac about her 245 days in captivity, her daring rescue by the IDF and how she survived her ordeal. An incredible young woman.

Energy prices will surge by £332 a year from July as the Iran war drives up the cost of oil and gas Cornwall Insight - which has a track record for accurately predicting prices - said that the energy price cap will rise from £1,641 between April and June to £1,973 from July It's up on its last prediction, when it forecast that bills would rise to £1,827. The longer the conflict goes on...

@JuliaHB1 @ArgamaniNoa @jonsac An apartheid state isn’t a democracy - never will be. The ‘only democracy’ talking point is laughable given it wasn’t that long ago Netanyahu was trying to curb its Supreme Court. A democracy doesn’t forcibly steal land.

@jamesPlondon36 @ArgamaniNoa @jonsac It wasn't a quip. I cheerlead the defence of the only democracy in the Middle East in the face of the threat from murderous Islamist terrorists and the Iranian regime that funds them, yes. Every. Single Time.

@jamesPlondon36 @ArgamaniNoa @jonsac Do you think she's making it all up? Or do you think that speaking out about her ordeal is part of her healing? Try to be a better human being, James. Because, right now, you're a bit of a dick.

@flightbird1978 @ArgamaniNoa @jonsac Were you there? Her story of how she coped with her captivity is inspiring. How she used her freedom to campaign for other hostages is inspiring. Her positivity despite all she's been through is inspiring. Nothing remotely odd about applauding that.

That's because there's a clear moral difference between criminal acts committed by bad individuals that are then prosecuted by the Israeli authorities AND criminal acts committed en masse as a deliberate policy by a terrorist group that are celebrated as acts of resistance. But you know that already, didn't you?

@JuliaHB1 @ArgamaniNoa @jonsac Convenient how you never comment when Israeli soldiers rape Palestinians on camera. Strange double standard to have

EXCLUSIVE: Sir Keir Starmer has been told that he may have to “rethink” the government’s borrowing rules to fund a potential cost of living bailout amid mounting concern about the impact of the Iran war on household finances. The Times has been told that there was a discussion about the government’s fiscal rules at Cabinet on Tuesday. Lisa Nandy, the culture secretary, suggested that they may need to be reconsidered if prices continue to rise and a major package of support is needed. Nandy, who is aligned with the soft left of the Labour party, has become the first member of the Cabinet to suggest that the government’s fiscal rules may need to be relaxed in response to the crisis. Ministers are increasingly concerned that the conflict in the Middle East will lead to long-term economic scarring and push up the cost of food, heating and mortgage payments for millions of families. The cost of food is expected to rise particularly sharply as a result of fertiliser shortages and the impact of increased transport costs The Treasury stands by the fiscal rules, saying they have helped bring “stability to the public finances, investment to our infrastructure and reform to our economy”. It points out they were a manifesto promise thetimes.com/article/83d4c6…
