Let me explain what just happened today because it deserves so much recognition. GalaxEye is a Bengaluru startup founded in 2021 by IIT Madras engineers. Today they launched Mission Drishti on a SpaceX Falcon 9. It is India's largest privately built satellite at 190 kg. And it carries a technology that no commercial satellite has ever carried before. Normal satellites take photos of the Earth using optical cameras. Like your phone camera, but from 500 km up. The problem is obvious. Clouds. Night. Fog. Smoke. If any of these are in the way, the photo is useless. India has monsoon cover for 4 months a year. That is 4 months where optical satellites are partially or fully blind over large parts of the country. The alternative is SAR. Synthetic Aperture Radar. Instead of taking photos with light, it sends radar waves down and reads what bounces back. Radar goes through clouds, through darkness, through smoke. A SAR satellite can image a flooded village at 2 AM during a cyclone when no optical satellite can see anything. The problem with SAR is that the images look nothing like photos. They look like grainy black-and-white radar maps. A military analyst or a trained geospatial engineer can read them. A farmer, a disaster response team, or a city planner cannot. Until today, if you wanted both optical and SAR data for the same location, you needed two different satellites, passing over at different times, at different angles. Then someone had to manually align and fuse the two datasets. Expensive, slow, and the data never perfectly matched because the satellites saw the same spot minutes or hours apart. GalaxEye put both sensors on one satellite. Optical and SAR, fused into what they call OptoSAR. Three times more information than a single sensor. Processed onboard by an NVIDIA AI chip at 1.8 metre resolution. Now in practice, during the next cyclone hitting Odisha, one satellite pass gives you a clear image of which villages are flooded, which roads are cut, and which buildings are standing. Day or night. Cloud or clear. In near real-time. For defence, it means you can monitor a border area 24/7 regardless of weather. For agriculture, it means tracking crop health across an entire monsoon season without a single cloud gap. For infrastructure, it means monitoring construction progress on highways and bridges without waiting for a clear day. GalaxEye tested their SAR tech on ISRO's POEM orbital platform. The satellite was tested at ISRO facilities. IN-SPACe provided regulatory clearance. NSIL, ISRO's commercial arm, will distribute the imagery globally. And it launched on SpaceX because ISRO's PSLV doesn't have the right orbit slot for this mission. Yes, four IIT Madras graduates built a world-first satellite in 4 years in Bengaluru. Take a bow!
Tejasvi Surya@Tejasvi_Surya

A Bengaluru startup just did something no one in the world has ever done, put a satellite in orbit that sees through clouds, through the night, with optical sensor and SAR fused into one. Many many congratulations to the @Galaxeye team on the launch of Mission Drishti! This is exactly why PM Sri @narendramodi opened up the space sector, so young Indians could build an audacious future for the nation.

Before the world knew the power of Big Pharma, a journalist in a tiny lab in Bombay created a substance so potent it triggered a trade war with London. It was a yellow grease that did not just soothe headaches but funded a movement, bypassed British blockades, & became 1 of the few Indian products to make the Empire's own medicine look like scented water. Unlike other brands started by chemists, Amrutanjan was founded by Kasinadhuni/Kasinathuni Nageswara Rao, a man who was primarily a journalist & a freedom fighter. In the late 1800s, the pain balm market in India was a British monopoly. If your head throbbed, you bought imported ointments. Rao saw this as a tax on pain. He retreated into a lab & perfected a formula that was significantly more potent than anything coming out of London. The British tried to push their own balms like Vicks/early menthol rubs as sophisticated & odorless. They attempted to smear Amrutanjan as primitive because of its overpowering scent. Rao leaned into the scent. He realized that in a country where literacy was low, a brand could not just be a name, it had to be an experience. He distributed free samples at music concerts (Sabhas) & religious festivals. By the time the British tried to patent the market for pain relief, the entire Indian public had already associated the smell of camphor & menthol with trust. The British balms felt alien & weak compared to the sensory explosion of the yellow tin. The smell of Amrutanjan... that piercing, camphor-heavy aroma became the literal scent of the freedom struggle. If you walked into a room & it smelled of Amrutanjan, it was a silent signal: A patriot is present. It was a scent the British police could not arrest, yet it was everywhere. The British had a Patent Medicine Tax that made imported drugs expensive. However, by classifying Amrutanjan as an Ayurvedic Proprietary Medicine, Rao managed to navigate a complex legal gray area. He essentially used the British legal system against itself. By proving his ingredients were ancient yet his manufacturing was modern, he avoided the crippling taxes that applied to purely Western drugs, while maintaining a price point (initially 10 annas) that made British imports look like daylight robbery Rao fought back not just in the market, but in the press. He used the profits from the balm to fund Andhra Patrika, 1 of the most influential anti-British newspapers. The British were literally paying for their own downfall. Every time a British officer’s wife bought a jar of Amrutanjan for a migraine (because it worked better than the London balms), she was inadvertently funding the printing of revolutionary literature that called for the end of the Raj. By the 1930s, this Indian yellow grease was being exported to Indian diaspora & locals in South Africa & Ceylon. It became a global symbol of Eastern Wisdom defeating Western Chemistry. It was 1 of those few occasions, an Indian OTC (Over the Counter) product achieved cult status internationally w/o a single pound of British investment. In fact, the yellow tin became so iconic that it did not need a label in the villages. The color & the smell were the brand. It was a biological Swadeshi. While others were fighting with words, Rao was fighting with molecular relief.

Today, India takes a defining step in its civil nuclear journey, advancing the second stage of its nuclear programme. The indigenously designed and built Prototype Fast Breeder Reactor at Kalpakkam has attained criticality. This advanced reactor, capable of producing more fuel than it consumes, reflects the depth of our scientific capability and the strength of our engineering enterprise. It is a decisive step towards harnessing our vast thorium reserves in the third stage of the programme. A proud moment for India. Congratulations to our scientists and engineers.

Do you want the problems that come from our useless neighbour in West & East permanently resolved? Do you want problems in North East to be settled permanently, with peace & stability not just in Manipur but in the entire NE? You want PoK back or not? It is important you ask these questions to yourself because there are going to be sacrifices that have to be done by all - not just armed forces but even common man. If the answer is Yes, then this is what you have to do - To deal with the useless neighbour in East & stabilize the North East : Vote for the central government in Bengal & Assam elections. Have said central government & not BJP here so that you understand why. Opposition targeted the courts first, then Election Commission, central security forces, investigation agencies, even media. In short, no institute will be spared. That shows desperation on part of one side & the commitment to go for the kill by the central government. From changing high ranking officials in administration, focus will only keep going to the bottom till police inspectors & SHOs. Now no arrangement can be perfect, opposition will always find ways to do notoriety. But as much as this is a do or die for the central government, it is for the voters there yearning for change. A government in Bengal is a prerequisite to resolve East. Voters of Bengal have a chance to not just better their governance but to resolve India's long standing legacy geographical issues in East, problems minorities are facing in the useless neighbour, illegal immigration influx, border control. To deal with the useless neighbour in West & PoK - Regions like Gujarat & Rajasthan already have governments aligned with the central government. So the challenges here will be different. With PoK will come their population. Opposition will spread narrative & it will be amplified by the mindless ultra right-wing chaps that they want land without its people. It doesn't work like that. Deradicalization efforts are being done at governmental/diplomatic levels, but the common man cannot wash away their duty here. Just like Israel is facing difficulties in Iran leading to supply shortages, we too will face supply chain strain. That's why asked initially you want a permanent solution to the never ending problems of terrorism permanently or not as that will require sacrifices. Either don't expect peace & ask for action after every terror attack or be willing to face consequences. PM Modi is repeatedly asking to be prepared like we were during COVID, keep calm, remain united. He said it in parliament, on inauguration of Jewar airport & also in Mann ki Baat program. At least 3 times in last 3-4 days. Hope you understand why this constant reiteration. Movements & statements of Army Chief & Raksha Mantri have clearly hinted even timelines. So don't create panic when we go for action. No rushing to petrol pumps, creating long lines thinking you are doing something smart. Don't hoard food items. Don't panic buy as it will create shortages even if there is none. Don't fall for rumours/propaganda & act, without verifying from official/government sources & press releases. Despite saying this, people will still behave like animals & show no unity, calmness. But hopefully unlike past instances, hope they will act sensibly in a war like situation at least. Israel has been able to take on its enemies because its enemies are external. India cannot be Israel ever because our enemies are always internal. Harsh but truth. People willingly fall for media headlines & flip because their foundation & understanding of issues is poor. Have never been this direct & harsh because the window is approaching. Are you read to sacrifice, behave & remain united? VidurNeeti. [primary post link added in comments]

Listen very carefully from 21:40 onwards. Transcript posted in comments so that you read each word very carefully of this important message. Key takeaways : Iran war 'may' prolong. Have to wait for a few days to see how negotiations go. None of the 3 sides (Iran, Israel & US) have achieved their goals yet. Irrespective of what happens now, the long term goal will be the same as predicted - regime change in Iran. Don't indulge in hoarding fuel & food items. The usual suspects who want chaos on streets which they try on every crisis, will be back to provoke you. Stay calm & learn from COVID experience when they were provoking people to migrate back, creating chaos. Why the PM said this now? We have Ops Sindoor 2 pending. We anyway have to prepare for it. Whether Iran war prolongs or not, we should now be prepared mentally for similar situation. It has to happen. VidurNeeti. [primary post link added in comments]
