UPDATE: UTC says campus is ALL CLEAR. The lockdown has been lifted, and law enforcement found no evidence of a threat. All classes and activities have been canceled until August 22, 2025 at 8:00 a.m.

BREAKING: There's a possible active shooter on campus at UTC. UTC sent out an alert stating the possible shooter is at the University Center or Library. We'll update you with more information as it becomes available.

Via TDOT SmartWay cameras at I-24 / McBrien: flooding blocking westbound traffic on I-24 leading to standstill conditions coming north from Georgia and south from I-40 to meet 24W. Numerous cars stranded in the high waters. Alternate routes suggested.

NEW THIS MORNING: A sinkhole has also opened up on I-59 near the Trenton exit. All lanes are closed. Traffic is being diverted off of Exit 11 and onto Exit 17.

TORNADO WARNING for portions of Rhea, Meigs, and McMinn counties until 10 PM eastern! A tornado is potentially forming near Dayton moving northeast at 40 mph. If you're near Dayton, Decatur, or to the west of Athens, take cover now!

BREAKING: Chattanooga Police Chief John Chambers has confirmed a suspect is dead following a pursuit at Hamilton Place Mall. Chief Chambers says the suspect attempted to run over officers before they shot and killed the suspect. The TBI is now investigating the incident.

BREAKING: The murder trial of Darryl Roberts has been postponed until April 14. This is because of an error by the court that has necessitated a new jury be picked. Jurors overheard Roberts be called a “convicted felon” before the case began.
