Ken Dryden played only 8 NHL seasons. In that window he won: 🏆6 Stanley Cups 🏆5 Vezina Trophies 🏆Calder Trophy 🏆Conn Smythe Trophy Not sure there’s a better 8-year run. Hockey has lost a giant.

On behalf of the Barrie Professional Firefighters Association, we extend our heartfelt support to the Barrie Police Service and the Barrie Police Association and their members. While we may wear different uniforms, we stand together and in unity with our brothers and sisters in Policing. We’d like to extend our sincere thanks to Simcoe County Paramedic Services, Barrie Police Service, and our members of Barrie Fire & Emergency Services for their swift response and professional care during last night’s 911 Crosstown Classic Charity Hockey Game, when a member of the Barrie Police team experienced a medical emergency. Thanks to the quick actions and strong teamwork of everyone involved, the officer received immediate attention and is now on the path to recovery. To the officer and his family—we’re keeping you in our thoughts and sending our full support during this time. And to all who were in attendance, thank you for your patience, compassion, and respect. Your support is a powerful reminder of the strength and unity within our community. #BarrieStrong #FirstResponders #CommunitySupport #UnitedInService

Over 124 calls this weekend consisting of minor to life threatening medicals, fire alarms, vehicle collisions, flooding, wires down and a possible structure fire. Crews had to cut their way to many of these calls while also assisting with non-emergency situations.

Over 13 years Mike Barnard ushered us from 13 to 43 members, guided us through a pandemic and an attempted merger of 2 municipal fire services. Thank you Mike from us all at Local 3804 for your dedication. We look forward to holding you to your Past President duties!

Some of the Important Things Canada Has Done for the United States 🇨🇦🇺🇸 1. Canada sent first responders to New York to help with recovery efforts after the 9/11 terrorist attack on Sept. 11, 2001. 2. During 9/11 Canada took in hundreds of diverted flights bound for the US. The town of Gander Newfoundland with a population of only 9,600 people, took in 6,800 passengers from 38 planes for a week, treating them like family. This created bonds that exist to this day. 3. During Hurricane Katrina in 2005, Canada sent helicopters and ships to Louisiana and Alabama to assist with recovery efforts. 4. In 1979 the Canadian Embassy in Tehran shielded 6 Americans and smuggled them out of the country during the Iran Hostage Crisis when the American Embassy was overrun and 53 people were taken prisoner by Iranian militants. 5. Canada fought alongside Americans against the Taliban in Afghanistan in 2001-2014 during Operation Enduring Freedom. 6. Canada sent 4 specially designed water bombers to California in 2024-2025 to help with the LA wildfires, including dozens of firefighters from across Canada. 7. Canada fought in a US led United Nations coalition in South Korea in the early 1950s to ward off an invasion by North Korea. 8. Canada fought alongside the United States and other allied nations during both WWI and WWII, entering both conflicts several years before the United States did. 9. In WWII Canadian forces played a key role on D-Day storming Juno Beach and seizing their objectives far ahead of schedule. 10. Canadian scientists invented the Canadarm which was used extensively on NASA space shuttle missions, playing a key role in launch, repair, and recovery efforts in space. Throughout history, Canada has been a stalwart friend and staunch ally of the United States. This bond has survived international crises, terrorist attacks, natural disasters, and wars. While these bonds are being tested, let’s not forget the generosity and goodwill of Canadians towards our American neighbours. By: M. Over 80 brave souls jumped into frigid water today at the @FridayLiving Polar Bear Dip in support of the @RVHFoundation “Keep Life Wild” campaign. Great to see smiles before the jump and then the shivers after. #cdnpoli

Today, we honour and remember our dear friend and brother, Chris Francescone, who tragically passed away last night. Chris was the Secretary-Treasurer of the OPFFA from 2014-2016 where he advocated for protection for firefighters across Ontario, including the presumptive legislation that will now directly affect the Francescone family. His dedication, leadership, and advocacy for the fire service will forever inspire us all. Rest in peace, Chris—your legacy lives on in every life you touched. #NeverForgotten

Another great community tree lighting hosted by @Innisfil_FIRE Stroud Firefighters this evening. Biggest crowd I’ve seen in 9 years. Lots of excitement when Santa showed up in the Fire Truck. Great job bringing the community together and thanks to the sponsors. #cdnpoli

"You people who come here, you love our way of life, you love our milk and honey, at least you could pay a couple of bucks for a poppy." 5 years ago, Don Cherry was fired from Hockey Night in Canada for these comments. He was right then, and even moreso today. Even Ron McLean agreed with him at the time as you can see in the video. That is, before he stabbed Don in the back the next day. The woke knee-jerk reaction of letting him go was a big mistake, Don Cherry is a national treasure! His entire Remembrance Day segment was excellent, watch it here:
