❌ We all acknowledge Violence against Women & Girls is a scourge we need to act on #VAWG 💭 Today, 5 years on, it’s important we reflect on key measures that are making a positive difference 📃 The Domestic Abuse Act was enshrined in law on 30th April 2021, after years of campaigning by many charities, organisations, activists, dedicated Parliamentarians & most importantly, survivors & their families 🧠 We know domestic abuse can affect the children of victims & survivors & also affect men & boys too 🌎 It was the Conservative Government who delivered this Act as a landmark piece of legislation creating a step change in our national response to domestic abuse 🗣️ @VictoriaAtkins , who led on this legislation as a Minister, & I as Shadow Minister for Women, took some time to reflect on the progress of the last 5 years, as well as to acknowledge the ongoing & vital work that still needs to be done to end domestic abuse for good, helping to deliver a future free from abuse for all

📱 🏫 After speaking with students who explained how distracting & pressurising phones in #school can be, I’m pleased to see the Labour Government change their mind, backing parents, teachers & students to #ban #phones in school 👏🏻 This is great news & follows months of pressure from the Conservatives & others who have continually raised concerns 📚👩‍🎓 As we’ve regularly said, this isn’t about telling people how to parent, it’s about backing #families, supporting #teachers who work so hard, & ensuring classrooms are environments where children can learn, grow, & concentrate free from distractions

The Falkland Islands are British…no matter what Donald Trump says. We must defend British Sovereign territory, and to do that we must back our armed forces. Only the Conservatives have a plan to reinstate the two child benefit, and use the savings to fund our military.
