I also love how his actions and methodologies have passed the test of time. A shining example is Burningum, who is written very similarly to him and happens to share many of his respects and methodologies. The hidden library as well. The guy is a shining example of how small actions can roll into a bigger, more meaningful outcome. He inspired the next generation, or one of its members, to be better than those in the past by teaching them the past. What’s that quote about “those who do not remember the past are condemned to repeat it”? I feel like his character really encompasses that idea, hell he made a whole archive in its name.
The only real shame is that he never got to see the Commander. While he never got to influence the main character directly, I have a feeling that the Commander is almost everything he would want the next generation of commanders to be and aspire to be. He would have loved that guy. 2/2
