Clean Energy at Work reveals that the Australian renewable energy industry currently employs over 25,000 people & could employ as many as 44,000 people by 2025, with the majority of those jobs in regional Australia. assets.cleanenergycouncil.org.au/documents/reso…

This just shows how commercially challenging nuclear is and why we need to focus on replacing our aging coal power stations with renewables and storage - not waiting for an expensive technology that does not currently exist afr.com/policy/energy-…

"The cheapest form of generation is solar and wind firmed by grid-scale storage, including pumped hydro and batteries. The debate on that is finished." Read Clean Energy Council Chief Executive, @kanethornton's latest op ed in The Australian: zurl.co/9dSA

Investment in new large-scale renewable energy needs to accelerate to replace coal, drive down power prices & meet carbon goals. We surveyed industry leaders to understand the barriers & ensure industry, govt’s & market bodies focus on the right issues. There’s no time to waste.

No new renewable energy projects committed in Q1 2023, right when Australia needs to double the rate of renewable energy deployment. Federal Government has made significant progress, but many challenges remain after a decade of inaction & poor planning. thewest.com.au/business/renew…

If you’re ever in doubt about what is driving up energy prices in Australia, check out the attached graph by @GriffithBiz, which shows how gas prices shape the prices in the National Energy Market. #cleanenergy #energyprices

Grid connection has been one of the biggest challenges for large-scale renewable energy in Australia. Reforming the connection process is complex, but critical if Australia is to realise its clean energy superpower opportunity. Great collaboration with @AEMO_Energy & many others.
Clean Energy Council@cleannrgcouncil

Today, we are formally proposing a rule change that would provide investors and developers of renewable generation and storage with greater certainty when connecting to the grid.

Australia is back in the game at the World Hydrogen Congress, showcasing our potential as a clean energy superpower and encouraging investors back to Australia. Timely given the $2 billion commitment to green hydrogen in this weeks federal budget.

Thanks for seeking the clarification @SophieScamps & glad the silly politics on hydrogen colors are behind us! Renewable hydrogen was always going to win out given they are the least cost and customers ultimately demand zero emissions hydrogen.
Dr Sophie Scamps MP@SophieScamps

During Question Time today I asked @Bowenchris whether Australia’s new $2 billion Hydrogen Headstart Fund will only fund green hydrogen projects & asked him to confirm it will not be used to prop up fossil fuels. Spoiler alert, it was a good response! #auspol #QT #Budget2023

Great budget for clean energy with over $4 billion in new funding. Green hydrogen and electrification for households and businesses are the big winners and lots of funding for the critical building blocks for Australia to become a clean energy superpower.
