Watch the Reform UK's James Orr humiliate himself on #BBCQT James Orr, "When the wind doesn't blow, you need gas to back it up and sometimes the wind doesn't blow" Fiona Bruce asks how drilling helps us is oil and gas are traded on the international market James Orr, "Prices are fixed internationally but a portion of them is connected to" Caroline Lucas, "It really isn't. It's sold on international markets to the highest bidder" James Orr, "That's not true.. Bills are higher because of unreliable renewables" Caroline Lucas, "They are not unreliable. I have just spoken with the Emir of Qatar and President Trump following the strikes that hit gas production facilities in Iran and Qatar today. It is in our common interest to implement, without delay, a moratorium on strikes targeting civilian infrastructure, particularly energy and water supply facilities. Civilian populations and their essential needs, as well as the security of energy supplies, must be protected from military escalation.

I have two clear messages: First, to the United States & Israel: It’s high time to end this war that is risking to get out of control, causing immense suffering on civilians, with dramatic effects on the global economy & potentially tragic consequences, especially for the least developed countries. Second, my message to Iran: Stop attacking your neighbors, they were never parties to the conflict. The Security Council has condemned these attacks, has ordered them to stop, as it has order to open the Strait of Hormuz. The prolonged closure of the Strait of Hormuz causes enormous pain for so many people around the world who have nothing to do with this conflict. It’s time for the force of the law to prevail over the law of the force. It’s time for diplomacy to prevail over war. My remarks from the European Council in Brussels: un.org/sg/en/content/…

Oil and gas prices have soared after a number of strikes on energy facilities in the Middle East. Iran's South Pars gas facility, one of the largest natural gas fields in the world, was hit by Israel last night. Iran retaliated, striking the Ras Laffan facility in Qatar, which is the world's biggest liquefied natural gas plant. President Trump said on social media that he would ‘blow up’ Iran’s major gas field if it strikes Qatar again.

What is the point of keeping water privatised? This was the question Labour MP Barry Gardiner put to Emma Reynolds, the secretary of state for environment, food and rural affairs. However, when Reynolds said nationalising water would "cost an enormous amount of money", she was quizzed on where her figures were coming from. According to Gardiner, the Labour government has simply refused to do the maths.

The public are getting sick while sewage is pumped into our rivers and seas, and water companies keep getting away with it. This cannot continue. Water must be run for public good, not private profit. #CleanWater #PublicOwnership
