Ok, so I can't fix this on my own, but I can help by offering up some of my time to support people working in the cultural sector. If you'd like a chat, you can book a time using this link calendly.com/kate-mroczkows… and here's a thread of things I can help with...

I’ve had lots of convos with arts marketing folk recently and everyone is just so tired, over worked, under resourced…we have to fix this, right? The sector can’t keep running on the warm fuzzy feeling of working in the arts. Are there any resources/projects that can help?

@tappinator @MrFreeman1984 Totally agree, if it wasn’t for the nerves and stress, I’d be demanding @MrFreeman1984 does a keynote next year (but I think you’ve prob got enough to worry about, what with the huge fancy venue reopening!)

Quite possibly one of the best speakers I’ve experienced at a work event, @MrFreeman1984 captivated his audience at #AMAconf with his engaging, honest and downright funny presentation about data insights. Great content, great energy, great story. Thank you.

@millymarch Yeah, that’s what I did for years, but a blood test showed slightly elevated histamines in November, so the dr said just take them daily and it’s been such a treat not having to deal with hayfever this year. Good luck!!

@millymarch A dr suggested I take an antihistamine every day, all year round (I take it in the evening, so drowsyness isn’t a problem). My hayfever has been non existent this year, it’s been amazing, worth a try!

@HedgehogCabin @jowhiley We’ve used the overgrown cuttings from a very spiky juniper shrub. We noticed slugs didn’t touch the plants around the shrub, and it needed cutting back anyway. It’s worked really well!

Please don't harm them. They are such an overlooked but important part of our fragile ecosystem. They do so much good - without them we'd all be knee deep in bird poo (eating that is just one of the vital jobs they do)! And they self-regulate, so if you get rid of some from your garden, those left behind will breed even faster to make up for the loss.😊 The answer is balance. Those plants that we so arrogantly call weeds are the food of so many creatures. If we remove the slug/snail food, we can't expect them just to starve - they will eat our precious plants instead. So allow at least part of your garden to grow naturally, without being restrained or controlled. The ground beetle, which used to be common in all our gardens, until we were brainwashed by TV garden makeover programmes to keep everything tidy and barren, love to eat slugs. They like to live under log piles and long, tussocky grass. If you create that habitat, the beetles will return, and the slug population will eventually become balanced. Instal a pond if you can, as the amphibians also have slugs on their menu. No quick fixes I'm afraid, but it took a long time to create this problem, so it'll take a little time to fix it.🥰

@bendoyle1983 @_LucasMichael_ But it looked like it smelt of a really gross gym. The dancers were amazing, choreography excellent, decent song, but the set and costumes…it looked like it smelt really bad (I totally realise I’m probably on my own on this and that’s not the reason we got 0!)

I just hope this doesn’t dishearten BBC that much. The 0 is depressing but I don’t want us to give up again. The semis rate well on BBC1. The appetite is there. We care. Keep sending top artists. Get the staging right and give us a song. Don’t go back to song camps #Eurovision

But I have been annoyed by coughing, whispering, ringing phones. Probably time we just accept that humans can be annoying, and learn to live with it and just enough the moment of shared experiences?

or shall we just accept that when you’re in a room full of humans, things can distract you and that’s ok? I’ve never been annoyed when someone’s taken a pic/short recording…I’ve really enjoyed their enthusiasm and excitement (having been in audiences and on stage a lot),

@annalapwood @TheCBSO I love this…being very honest, I’ve never been a fan of the organ, but seeing clips of your performances online totally made me rethink the instrument and, when the chance comes up, I’ll totally be going to organ concerts in future!

A couple of thoughts on using phones in concerts following @TheCBSO’s decision to encourage the audience to film clips and share them online - with the disclaimer I don’t think we all need to agree on this…!
