Thanks so much to the judges who have selected my novel in progress for the Historical Adventure category. #Manumission is set in the years following the global pandemic that ancient historians call the Antonine pandemic. #HNS2026 #AmWriting #HistoricalFiction

We survived Storm Dave in Northumberland. The winds were vicious, howling around the eaves, whistling down the chimney, a steady roar. But it’s quieter now. All blown out. And some of the plum tree blossom has clung on. Happy Easter 🐣

@KatesfWriter I wasn't here for the golden age of Twitter, but there seems to be plenty of author and agent engagement and support happening. I'm happy to be here. 😀

Happy Easter! Life imitating art. Fresco of dish of eggs from the Praedia of Julia Felix, #Pompeii and an exhibit of eggs that astonishingly survived the AD 79 eruption in Herculaneum. 🥚🥚🥚#EasterDay

@DBBell65 @lampwright4 Haha! I did run, but kept my account open. I don’t blame anyone for leaving. I was struggling to see the point of being here when I checked out. It’s why I asked the Q. I was hit with a wall of toxic, hostile, and fake posts. I felt lost among it, my voice mocked and diminished.

@KatesfWriter @lampwright4 I'm with you entirely. Such a change after people left. But it's the fault of those that left. Ran away from their followers without even a thought for them. Selfish lot!

I’ve been here almost 15 years and seen it rise and fall. Some bits are good, like the fact that you can easily spot the scamming brigade in Africa, specifically Nigeria. Some things are not great, but at least they’re fair: there are equal numbers of far-right and far-left opinions, and it’s no longer one-voice-only. Other bits are awful, scammers are through the roof. But I do think Twitter (it’ll never be X) has the best writing community.

@KatesfWriter It's becoming algo dependent, and checkmark biased in very heavy handed way. There are still good ppl here, many in the writing communities, but the "free speech" platform is more of a pay the price for free speech platform.
