The rise of the small town investor. Modest sums but a growing and significant share in mutual fund assets. And yes, more thrust towards equity oriented assets than an overall asset allocation approach.
Sanket Dhanorkar@SanketD_ET

India's small towns are experiencing a cultural shift - emerging as keen participants in wealth creation rather than just spectators from afar. But these investors must navigate many twists and turns on this financial journey. This week, @ET_Wealth explores how wealth creation is reaching the country's last mile, and why the link remains fragile.

Your EPF corpus is a vault comprising of two money boxes: EPF: The bigger, visible box: EPS (pension): The smaller, ignored box When you want to access this vault, the EPFO checks for keys to both boxes, not just EPF. If anything is amiss in the EPS box, it can deny your EPF claim along with the pension. Ignoring EPS contribution records can be very costly. We break down the multiple issues in EPS and how to fix them in this week's @ET_Wealth

@Iamsamirarora That is also why tipping culture in the US is so prevalent. Their usual wages are so low that they have to survive on tips.

Uber has totally lost it. Last night Uber app showed a fare of US$ 75 for a Uber X trip from Penn Station to mid town. I walked for about 10 mins and then got Uber for 43 dollars (I had bags otherwise it would have been a short "pleasant" walk). I checked with the driver as to how much he had got for the trip and he showed me that he got US$ 11 plus one dollar bonus. So the company kept more than 70% of the amount. How does surge pricing work if the drivers don't see the surge in pricing to react with greater supply? Will have to see if Uber stock is worth buying to hedge this gouging 🙃

Hi there. Has anyone here ever stopped their SIPs during a market downturn (even if, in the past) and then re-entered later? If market volatility has ever pushed you to pause or stop — and you've thought twice about it since — I'd love to speak with you. This is for an upcoming @ET_Wealth story. Please DM me.

@kayezad @dazi180turtle @BlueNosePanda @Djoko_UTD We have weird shoulder genetics in my family. My sister separated her shoulder twice on serves in high school and always served underarm after that. It confused opponents on the first set but they always adapted.

A lot of jokes from King Charles tonight. “You recently commented, Mr. President, that if it were not for the United States, European countries would be speaking German. Dare I say that if it wasn't for us, you'd be speaking French”

Studies show that 90% of the human brain’s structure takes shape by the age of 5 years. Not surprisingly, there is rush among parents – and schools, institutes and tutors – to make the most of this phase by ensuring that their little ones, aged 3-5 years, gain all-round exposure to a variety of activity, or enrichment, programmes. Dance, music, drama, phonics, chess…the list is long. The ecosystem around boosting ‘brain development’ in these crucial years is booming in Indian cities, with several upscale schools themselves offering such classes, especially during summer vacations that have just started. For a growing number of urban Indian families, such structured, paid ‘edutainment’ is replacing free play – it is no longer a discretionary spend category. Parents do not mind shelling out huge sums – even over Rs 1 lakh per year – at times, equal to school fees. Over three preschool years (nursery, junior and senior kindergarten), the cost of enrichment classes could cross Rs 3-4 lakh. But, instead of dipping into your savings every year, it is best to make early-skill building a planned expense, say financial planners. Ideally, the planning should start as soon as the kid is born, or at least 6-12 months before pre-school starts. The money can be parked in liquid funds or recurring fixed deposits. @sahajmoneyindia @tanuja_gomes @raellpadamsee1 @EconomicTimes @kayezad Link to the complete story: economictimes.indiatimes.com/wealth/spend/c…

It is legal as of now, but not necessarily legit. That's highly debatable. It's one of those forgotten rules that some fringe players are using. But the rules need to catch up, too. A serve is an overarm shot. Go to any tennis coaching school and ask them to teach you how to serve. No one will teach you an underarm serve. That is proof enough that this shot is not legit. Legal yes, but not legit. No top player (Sampras, Courier, Bjorg, McEnroe, Federer, Nadal, Djokovic or even the current crop Sinner, Alcaraz) has ever used this underarm serve. Doesn't that tell you anything? That's the difference between sportsmanship and gamesmanship.

@kayezad @Djoko_UTD underarm serve is a legit and valid strategy. It’s just a drop shot but for a serve.

Gold is up 11.7% in 2026. Equities? Firmly in the red. @ET_Wealth's TrendMap, put together by @sameerb_81, this week tracks 10 years of asset class returns. The lesson holds: no single asset wins every time. Out now.

Raghu Rai, one of India’s best-known and most celebrated photographers, is no more. He passed away early Sunday. @ET_Wealth had the honour of interviewing him last year for a cover story that discussed how to secure the inheritance of your digital assets, such as photographs, archives, Instagram, online photo albums, and the like. Raghu Rai was on our cover, and we are humbled and honoured to have had his presence there. May his soul rest in peace.

Already seeing people claiming credit but Sun Pharma’s high voltage acquisition of Organon, the biggest M&A by an Indian company since Tata’s purchase of Corus, was an exclusive broken by Arijit and Vikas in the 19 Jan edition of ET. They got every follow up story right and correctly called the acquisition going through in last night’s edition. Months of dogged pursuit. When it comes to Arijit’s track record in big ticket M&A, I’m reminded of what Tyson said about Ali during a heartwarming meeting of the legends: “Every head must bow, every tongue must confess, he’s the greatest of all time”. Take a bow, comrades. @arijitbarman76 and pharma don @VikasReports

Dear @tataplayfiber, @X is not working on my phone, iPad and my laptop since morning if I use your WIFI. But as soon as I switch off my Tata Play Fiber and log onto my Vodafone 5G, it works. I had to log out of my WiFi on my phone to post this. Your customer care executives have no clue.
