We're aware of highly offensive and discriminatory homophobic chanting that has been heard within football grounds, specifically during games involving Chelsea. We would like to take this opportunity to reiterate our zero-tolerance approach to such behaviour. 👉 port-vale.co.uk/news/keeping-f… #PVFC | #PVFC150

Kick It Out statement: The sentencing of Nigel Dewale in court today is a testament to Jess Carter’s courage in highlighting the vile abuse she endured and the need for accountability. Like many other players, she wanted action.  The outcome also sends a message that online discrimination has consequences for offenders. It’s vital that football, authorities and government work together to ensure this continues as abuse rises season on season.  Accountability builds trust, trust encourages reporting and reporting drives change.

An FA spokesperson said: “We welcome the decision of the court to hold Nigel Dewale to account for the disgusting messages sent to Jess Carter. “We are determined to assist the police and authorities in ensuring anyone responsible for such vile hate is made to face justice. “We again thank the UK Football Policing Unit (UKFPU) and the local Dedicated Football Officer for their continued support, and our priority remains providing the care and support our England players need to deal with this ongoing problem."

“The best person for the job.” We hear it all the time in football. But when coaching, senior leadership and board roles don't reflect the local communities many football clubs serve, it raises an important question: are we really giving everyone the same opportunity to succeed? For the first time, FA Rule N data gives us a snapshot of how diverse clubs across English football really are. Transparency is the first step to building a game where everyone has the opportunity to lead. 🔎 See how diverse your club is: bit.ly/47RDIt0

It’s disgusting to see another report of racial abuse directed towards a player while simply doing their job. Calling out this shameful behaviour takes courage, and Sunderland’s Lutsharel Geertruida should have the support of every fan across the country in aiming to make football a safer place for everyone. This incident and the continued rise in reports of discrimination sent to Kick It Out this season highlight both the scale of the problem and that people are willing to stand up to it. Accountability must follow to show that it will not be tolerated. If you see it or hear it, report it.

#NEWSUN Today’s match between Newcastle United and Sunderland was temporarily paused during the second half after a report of discriminatory abuse from the crowd, directed at Sunderland’s Lutsharel Geertruida. This is in line with the Premier League's on-field anti-discrimination protocol. The incident at St James’ Park will now be fully investigated. We offer our full support to the player and both clubs. Racism has no place in our game, or anywhere in society. We will continue to work with stakeholders and authorities to ensure our stadiums are an inclusive and welcoming environment for all.

We stand in solidarity with Ibrahima Konate and all players who are targeted with racist abuse. Reports of online abuse sent to Kick It Out continue to rise. Social media companies have the power to offer more protection to players, to be more proactive, but choose not to. That must change. If you see or hear discrimination, report it.
Liverpool FC@LFC

Liverpool FC is appalled and disgusted by the vile and abhorrent racist abuse directed at Ibrahima Konaté on social media.

⚽️ Moments like this... are now accessible to more people because of spaces like this. 🙌 In 2016, @WatfordFC introduced their award-winning Sensory Room for neurodivergent fans who may struggle to cope in a noisy football stadium. 🤝 We are delighted to support @lpftweets's Unite for Access campaign - a celebration of accessibility and inclusion for disabled football fans. #UniteForAccess
