Apparently, they were security men on night shift who were entrusted to protect the customers’ purse. Men of the night, watchers of the vault, now turned violators of the very trust they were paid to guard. Immediately, they were sacked and sentenced to 4 years imprisonment with hard labor. 4 years later, one of the ex-convicts applied to the bank again seeking to be employed as CSO; Chief Security Officer. Yes. The same bank and vault that once echoed his betrayal. During an interview, He was asked why he decided to rob the bank previously. And his response was shocking. He said, his role was just to assist the robbers and so he didn’t play any major role in the robbery. Therefore, he deserves to be given a chance to steer the security affairs of the bank. The panel of judges got pissed about his refusal to accept responsibility. The outright dismissal from office, humiliation and severe punishment should have been enough lessons for him. But clearly, no lessons has been learnt; an indication that, the shameless can never be shamed. His real intention and next move is now obvious and a matter of serious security concern. @koboateng is a new addition to the bank’s HR team and featured as a panelist, he’s the youngest and believed to have fresh perspectives. Despite being in the know of the interviewee’s conduct and records, he opposed the decision of the judges and strongly advocate the acceptance of the ex-convict for the role. The entire HR team is in shock as confusion slaps them right in the face. Looks like, there’s a greater problem. And so, the question lingers: Is this about redemption or a dangerous amnesia dressed as a second chance? And what is the real interest of Koboateng? Sometimes, the greatest threat to a system is not the one who once broke it. But the one who insists they should now be trusted to protect it.
