'Ebenezer: A Christmas Carol' releases November 13, 2026
EBENEZER - A CHRISTMAS CAROL stars Johnny Depp as Ebenezer Scrooge in Ti West's adaptation of the Dickens classic coming Nov 13 2026.
Footage shown at CinemaCon shows Ian McKellen as the forlorn ghost Jacob Marley and a pretty cool shot of the Ghost of Christmas Future opening his cloak to show hands of people imprisoned in his ribcage. Johnny Depp is bringing some of his Jack Sparrow comedic antics to his take on Scrooge, shooing away his ghosts with wide-eyed sneers.
“Ebenezer: A Christmas Carol” dropped its first teaser trailer at #CinemaCon, showing a completely transformed Johnny Depp as Scrooge:
• The footage shows Depp in full, crotchety Scrooge mode — terrifying villagers.
• Depp entered the stage to wild applause and catcalls from the rafters. “It really has been an extraordinary privilege,” Depp said about being asked by director Ti West to take on the role, calling the tale of Scrooge one “I have been obsessed with since I was a little child.”

#IanMcKellen says he “fell in love with” Johnny Depp after working together on the upcoming “Ebenezer: A Christmas Carol”:
“He’s in spankingly good form. Effervescent, funny, irreverent, serious — all at the same time. It was a bit of a love fest, really. I fell in love with him. He’s very obliging to his fellow actors. [There was] a wonderful feeling on the set.”

The script of Daydrinker was wildly compelling. With Marc Webb directing and Basil Iwanyk and Erica Lee producing, we knew we were in great hands. The role feels tailor made for Johnny Depp today." — Adam Fogelson (Chairman, Lionsgate Motion Picture Group) THR
