Last meeting, they voted to give us an independent budget but when it came to the official language, they were split. We are NOT like other departments. Our Office, like the Ethics Commission, is an INDEPENDENT OVERSIGHT BODY. The Ethics Commission has an independent budget.

Unfortunately, the Charter Reform Commission (in a split-vote) decided to NOT give the Controller's Office an independent budget to sufficiently: - Investigate fraud, waste, & abuse - Do audits to make government better - Do the city's accounting It's now up to City Council.
