Sources close to LeBron say the Lakers' approach to how they show their interest in retaining him will be a factor, not just the dollar amount.

Rob Pelinka says the Lakers’ 16-2 run in March is a “strong data point and proof of concept” for next season’s roster building.

50 wins in Year 1. 53 wins in Year 2. Top 4 in the West both times. First Lakers coach with back-to-back 50-win seasons since Phil Jackson. A 57-4 record when leading after 3 quarters.
He came in with zero coaching experience, inherited a roster riddled with injuries, navigated a mid-season franchise player trade, and still never dipped below the standard.
Everyone said he had no business being here. Two years later, he has proven everyone wrong.

Austin Reaves will decline his player option and hit free agency. The only teams with cap space to pay him $40M/year right now are the Bulls and Nets. Utah and Atlanta have interest but would need to make moves. Luka has told people inside the organization he does NOT want Reaves included in any Giannis trade package.

Never fun to end the season on a series sweep, but still A LOT to be proud of. This squad battled through the Rockets series without Luka & AR and proved that hope was not lost.
Running into this Thunder squad without Luka was always gonna be a massive challenge, but this team STILL found a way to compete in every game. This group never quit. Every game was a fight… the foundation is there, especially with Luka healthy.
Don’t get it twisted… the future is still bright in LA 💜💛
