With more than 12,000 calls into our 999 control rooms over #NYE and #NYD, we worked collaboratively with @stjohnambulance, @LDNairamb and many other partners to ensure those celebrating could do so safely, and London's sickest and most seriously injured patients were cared for.

“Party season is no excuse for abuse” ❌ Drug and alcohol-related 999 calls are expected to surge this weekend as the festive party season hits its peak. @ldn_ambulance is urging the public to drink sensibly and treat our call handlers and crews with respect. 1/3 🔽

Our ambulance crews and call handlers are violently assaulted or verbally abused every single day. This Christmas, the best gift you could give us is respect 🔽

We are currently very busy and over the weekend, took around 7,500 calls each day. Ben Evans, one of our Strategic Commanders, encourages people to use alternative healthcare routes where possible. To find your nearest pharmacy, head to the NHS website for more information.

#TeamLAS has already received nearly 10,000 drug and alcohol-related calls this summer. With #NottingHillCarnival coming up, we will have an additional 180 people on duty at the event. Remember to, stay hydrated, eat before drinking, carry water and any meds.

Our 999 services have been very busy so far this week. During heatwaves we often see growing numbers of people fainting or suffering with breathing difficulties, heat exhaustion, asthma and dehydration. Take extra care in the sun and follow our pinned tips to stay well.

For those enjoying festivals and events in August, please do so safely and responsibly. Between June and August 2024, we attended 9,700 alcohol-related calls and over 4,700 drug overdoses – around 150 calls a day during the peak summer season (1/2) 🔽
