Day #226 of my journey to discover the hidden gems of the Hair Metal genre! I’ll be posting a “Song of the Day” for every favorite I find! Song of The Day: Nikki by Tommi Gun These guys were definitely NOT late to the game, which begs the question even more…WHY weren’t these guys signed?! Maybe some of you know the story more than I do. But these guys joined the LA scene in the mid 80s and were a mainstay in a lot of LA clubs, selling out shows by 1987. But yet, no debut album? No EP? Nothing. All this compilation is are demos recorded while they were trying to get signed. If they were…they might have been big! These guys definitely give off early Motley Crue vibes, but with a touch more melody. Vinnie Kelley does have a very charismatic voice on these recordings. But it’s not as polished as it could’ve been had he gotten the proper push. But the guitar playing on this is stellar! Really great, gritty Sleaze Metal tunes! Other songs I really like from this compilation are Feel The Heat, Shiela, Talk Of The Town, Just Wait And See and Wanted Lover! 🤘🏻🔥
