Federal courts at every level have now recognized that these unilateral tariffs, imposed without Congressional authorization, are unlawful and cannot stand. Our statement on the Supreme Court's decision in V.O.S. Selections, Inc. v. Trump @sarawynne @neal_katyal @JeffreyMSchwab

This Memorial Day, we reflect on those who made the greatest sacrifice for our collective freedom. Their courage and sacrifice are a reminder that liberty MUST be defended.

Semi-serious Q: What's a good term to use for a professor who (a) insists they're not a Marxist, but (b): - Agrees with 95% of what Marx said - Loads their syllabi with Marx & other explicitly Marxist readings - Appeals to Marxist analysis and concepts in all their publications

Being in a unionized public workplace is not the same thing as being required to join the union. Thanks to Janus, public employees cannot be forced to be union members or pay union dues as a condition of employment — and the union still must represent workers in the bargaining unit. libertyjusticecenter.org/about/the-janu…

@shulsie @rpetty @MichaelTHartney I am unfortunately bound to a union work environment. My union is preparing for contract negotiations and they sent out a survey what was most important. They actually asked about ICE enforcement which had absolutely NOTHING to do with my line of work. It’s crazy.

The Chicago Teachers Union members appear to have rejected leadership's request to raise dues to take in an additional $8 million to spend mostly on political races. H/t @austinberg

Today before all the votes were even counted. CTU announced defeat of its attempt to raise member dues. This would’ve generated over $8 million for the union to spend on political races. NOT on members.

When your members are still asking for audits, maybe don’t lead with: “We need more money.”

BREAKING: Chicago Teachers Union members just rejected Stacy Davis Gates' push to hike union dues by $8.5 million. With 80% of votes counted, roughly 60% of members have voted no on the dues hike, according to the union. This is a stunning defeat for the political leadership that put Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson into office and has huge implications for Chicago Public Schools board races in November. Union leadership cited funding candidates in those school board races as the No. 1 reason for hiking dues, as well as covering legal fees associated with investigations from the Department of Labor and the IRS. Here is the official announcement on the vote from Gates and VP Jackson Potter.

NEW: The Chicago Teachers Union wants to hike dues by $8.5M — forcing teachers to pay up to $800 more/year. The first goal, according to the union’s own documents: buy a majority of Chicago school board seats this November. Even worse: They’re sneaking in a constitutional change to block members from suing the union over violations of their rights. Parents should never be the last to know about major decisions involving their own children. The House took a stand for American families and passed H.R. 2616 to stop schools from secretly socially transitioning kids behind parents’ backs. That’s not “controversial.” That’s common sense. @RepWalberg
House Committee on Education & Workforce@EdWorkforceCmte

Parents deserve honesty, not secrecy. Today, the House passed the bipartisan H.R. 2616, the Stopping Indoctrination and Protecting Kids Act, to restore transparency in K-12 schools, protect parents’ rights, and stop taxpayer dollars from funding radical ideological agendas in the classroom. Parents—not bureaucrats—know what’s best for their children. edworkforce.house.gov/news/documents…

The government already lost. The Court held these tariffs unlawful and entered an injunction blocking them. Now the administration wants American businesses to keep paying illegal tariffs anyway while the appeal drags on. We’ve already seen this story with the IEEPA tariffs— businesses paid billions in unlawful duties only for the government to later admit the money had to be refunded. At some point, the lesson should be clear: if tariffs are unlawful, they should stop now—not after years of litigation and administrative chaos. libertyjusticecenter.org/wp-content/upl…

Two visions for Chicago: Michael Sacks invests in rebuilding neighborhoods, supporting opportunity, and strengthening the city. Stacy Davis Gates presides over declining schools, fights transparency, undermines parents, and keeps kids trapped in a failing system. One builds. One dismantles. Who do you want to stand with?

Michael Sacks just publicly dismantled CTU President Stacy Davis Gates. "No one in this city is focused more on spending big money on politics, or deploys that money more forcefully or creatively, than you do." "And you think others should step aside and cede the field to you?" Awkward timing for Stacy. As she tricks teachers to approve higher union dues this week, Michael Sacks is accusing her of using CTU money, PACs, and political shell games to build the most aggressive political machine in Chicago. For @burlapandbarrel, importing ingredients from around the world isn’t a strategic choice—it’s the nature of the business. Spices are among the most global ingredients in the world. You simply can’t recreate them here. Our case is about defending American businesses, consumers, and the separation of powers against sweeping global tariffs imposed without clear authorization from Congress. 🎧 foodinstitute.com/podcast/the-su…

Nothing like obscurity to the members. Just like no published audits for 5 years even though required by their own by-laws. This is laughable.

If @CTULocal1’s proposals were popular, they’d be upfront about what they actually do. Instead, union leadership is relying on vague language to hide sweeping consequences from members. MEMBERS: Demand truth. Demand accountability. Election Days: May 20 & 21

Does the First Amendment give the world's largest corporations a perpetual right to be subsidized by your tax dollars? Our recent amicus argues it DOES NOT. The Fifth Circuit should reaffirm that the government cannot be forced to “choose winners and losers” by subsidizing corporate activism. The Constitution protects the right to speak, but it does NOT require the public to pay for it. libertyjusticecenter.substack.com/p/does-the-fir…
