Yesterday in Los Angeles, the Friends of the National Museum of the American Latino in partnership with @LALIFF joined the @ConsulMexLan with @carlos_glezgtez to present the 2nd annual Casa Mexico Pre-Oscars Brunch. Held at the @academymuseum, the gathering brought together filmmakers, artists, and industry leaders to celebrate the century old creative partnership between Mexico and Hollywood and the storytellers and artists shaping the future of global cinema. As the nation approaches its 250th anniversary, conversations like these are essential to ensuring that our shared history, Latino culture and creativity are fully reflected in the American story. #OscarsWeek #LatinoFilm #Hollywood #LatinoCreators

Ada Limón grew up in Sonoma California, the daughter of a Mexican father and spent years writing poetry that centered on grief, joy, and what it means to belong. In 2022 she became the 24th U.S. Poet Laureate, the first Latina to ever hold the title. She served two terms. As we approach America's 250th anniversary, her voice is a reminder that Latino stories have always been part of this country's fabric, and that poetry is one of the most powerful ways to tell them. #NationalPoetryMonth #AdaLimón #America250

It's National Poetry Month and today we're spotlighting @yesikastarr. Salgado is a Los Angeles poet and activist whose work centers on family, body, love, and what it means to grow up Brown in America. She's a three-time L.A. Latino Book festival poetry slam champion and her collections: Hermosa, Corazón, and Belleza, have resonated deeply with Latina women across the country. #NationalPoetryMonth #YesikaSalgado #America250

April is National Poetry Month and we couldn't think of a better way to kick it off than with Pablo Neruda. This month, we celebrate the poets who shaped our world. Neruda grew up in Chile, started writing as a teenager, and became one of the most influential poets of the 20th century. He lived through exile and political turmoil, and wrote through all of it. He won the Nobel Prize in 1971, but readers all over the world already knew his work. #NationalPoetyMonth #PabloNeruda #America250 #Builditonthemall

We're closing this Women's History Month, by honoring a true pioneer: Dr. Ellen Ochoa, the first Latina astronaut in history. On April 8, 1993, Dr. Ochoa flew aboard the Space Shuttle Discovery — making history and opening a door that had never been opened before. She went on to spend nearly 1,000 hours in space across four missions, and later became the first Latina director of NASA's Johnson Space Center. Dr. Ochoa has always said it best herself: "If you stay true to yourself and your work ethic, you can find what you're good at." #america250 #builditonthemall #womenshistorymonth

Farmworkers help feed more than 330 million people in this country. But only 14% can get health insurance through their jobs. They were left out of key labor laws. They’re not guaranteed overtime pay. Many work in fields treated with pesticides—and more than half don’t even know when they’ve been exposed. This #FarmworkerAwarenessWeek, take a moment to understand what farmworkers are up against.

This Women’s History Month, we’re celebrating former Ambassador Julissa Reynoso, whose path from immigrating to the U.S. at 7 to serving in some of the highest levels of government reflects what public service can look like at its best. Now her story is on stage. Public Charge is a new play based on her life, running March 12–April 12 at the Newman Theater at @PublicTheaterNY, bringing to life the real work behind diplomacy and what it actually takes. #Womenshistorymonth #Publicservice #America250 #PublicCharge

Casa Mexico’s Pre-Oscars Brunch was more than a moment, it was a reflection of something much deeper. Anchored by almost 100 years of the Oscar's, the celebration brought together artists, storytellers, and leaders across film and culture, it created space to celebrate the voices and stories that have long shaped both Hollywood and the country itself. Thank you to @consulmexlan for its leadership in creating this unique space and to our partners @Laliff_, Intersect Public Affairs, Mosaico and @donjulio. And big Thank you to our honorary co-hosts this year: @EvaLongoria, @DiegoBoneta, @DemianBichir, @rulfomanuel, and @LuisGerardoM. As we look ahead to America 250, gatherings like this take on even greater meaning. They remind us that Latino contributions are not new or emerging, they are foundational. They are present in the stories we tell, the culture we create, and the history we continue to uncover and share. This is the work: making space, telling the full story, and ensuring that as the nation reflects on its past, it does so with a clearer, more complete understanding of who we are. Casa Mexico is part of that story and just the beginning of what’s ahead. #CasaMexico #America250 #AwardsSeason #Builditonthemall

🌟 Women’s History Month Spotlight: Diana Trujillo This Women’s History Month, we’re celebrating Diana Trujillo, an aerospace engineer whose journey took her from Colombia to helping lead one of NASA’s most exciting missions. Trujillo moved to the United States at 17 to pursue her dream of working in space exploration. Today, she serves as a Tactical Mission Lead for the Mars Perseverance rover, helping guide the mission exploring the surface of Mars. She’s also worked to bring more people into the moment, co-hosting NASA’s first Spanish-language broadcast of a planetary landing so Spanish-speaking audiences around the world could follow along.   #WomensHistoryMonth #LatinaLeaders #America250

We are saddened to learn of the passing of Colonel Gil Coronado (USAF, Ret.), a proud son of San Antonio and a lifelong public servant whose impact on the Latino community will be felt for generations. Affectionately known as “Padrino,” Colonel Coronado rose from humble beginnings on the West Side of San Antonio to become a decorated Air Force officer and national leader. He is widely recognized as the force behind the expansion of Hispanic Heritage Week into what we now celebrate as Hispanic Heritage Month, working alongside leaders including President Ronald Reagan. We honor his legacy of service and extend our heartfelt condolences to the Coronado family and all who knew him. May he rest in peace.
