One of the things I love about collecting is finding early cards like this. Bron my favorite player since I started watching him his Rookie year. This pairing is also a story how physical card collecting helps my #PaniniBlockchain collecting, vice versa. I know LeBron is self triple logoman is the first sports card that sold for $2M within its release cycle (1 year). So when this LeBron/LeBron dual (only LeBron/LeBron card on chain) was seeded into Flawless product, it was very high on my radar. Instead of doing another self triple logoman, dilutive. Panini took out Heats and did a self dual, also first self dual logoman in sports history. Heats one is a weaker chapter of LeBron’s legacy. Comeback from 1-3 beating 73-9 Warriors at Cavs (his likely HOF team), getting all time score crown (and 40000 points) and lead 3 teams to 3 rings at Lakers are featured here and actually spelt out explicitly here. Because of physical knowledge of that comp, I went all in for this $55k on chain + $10k trade which soon ballooned to $20k, so $75k value at time of purchase. Yamal’s horizontal field level select 1/1 RC is his best card on chain. The experience and chase I had gave me an insight I need to chase some of his top physical cards. Him playing at EURO finals at my backyard in Berlin also helped. So I had a closer in person look and was completely won over. So being in PBC gives me inkling to go hard and secure Yamal’s top 1 physical card arguably his second best physical card as well. There is another soccer BC pack drop this Wednesday, Select La Liga, featuring Yamal and RM gear Mbappe. Select is most consistent and debut-significant drop on PBC. So far 3 drops. 2023 Select La Liga (Yamal debut and RC) 2024 Select FIFA (Debut of Messi Select, combining Messi’s largest brand with one of longest brands in the hobby in Select).
