Tim Howard has called out “Eurosnobs” in the USMNT fanbase 😳
Even before Johnny Cardoso got injured, Howard and Landon Donovan didn’t have him in their World Cup roster.
Fans didn’t like that, especially since they both included Sebastian Berhalter and Cristian Roldan.
Now that Johnny is definitely missing the World Cup, Howard has a response for those fans.
“Well, the soccer terminology for these fans that gave us stick are called Eurosnobs,” he said on this week’s Unfiltered Soccer podcast.
“So what a Eurosnob is anything that happens in Europe, and if a player's playing a big club, then they must play for your national team.
“And look maybe, maybe, but again, I'm looking at the same chart you're looking at, and I see just a lot of red. He's out with injury. He's not in the squad.
“When he does play again, we‘ve all had bad games, but against Türkiye, a poor, poor performance in 45 minutes.
“And the next game, we got pumped 4-0 [vs Switzerland] and he played the full 90.
“And then from then on, you know, there's 21 minutes in this game, nine minutes in that game, two minutes, 45 minutes, like I would love to see on here 90 minutes, 90 minutes, 80 minutes like, there's just no consistency.
“So the people who are giving us stick going, ‘You’re out of your mind,’ maybe. But that's not what his history and what [Mauricio] Pochettino is looking at when he looks at Cardoso.
“Like Poch also watches Atlético Madrid on TV. He sees these games, but he also calls him in and sees him in person, which is more important, and that's what we're judging this on.”
Howard played 13 years in England, and works for NBC Sports as their Premier League pundit.
However, he tries not to be biased and gives MLS players a lot of credit. And he’s not happy with “Eurosnobs” who keep undermining MLS players.
Does Howard have a point? 👀

@MLSGoneWild Would you say Habroune has been a bright spot?
English

Max has been one of, if not, the only bright spots for #Crew96 this season.
He’s got 4 goal contributions as a LW & 4 as a RW. He is THE guy for the Crew this year. Direct, dangerous, and versatile.

Arfsten adds his name to the scoresheet yet again 📝 Max notches his fourth goal of the season, tying his career high 🤩
English

@LookingBeyond2 @Dhaneye @usmntonly He is scoring tap in goals with no defenders tracking back, we are not a serious nation
English

Mehmeti is the real gem from this list. Gozo as well has serious ptotential. The rest are honestly just names that won’t ever have a serious career with the USMNT

Hall hattie, Gozo brace, Soma 1G/1A, Bombino assist, Mehmeti great again. What a midweek for the youngsters. So excited about the next gen.

@LookingBeyond2 @USMNT He has played well for usmnt.
English

@Eyesandvibes He is a player that relies on service. The USMNT struggles to get service to their STs. He would not bring much different to the team than a guy like Pepi. Exciting prospect but not ready.
English

People are going to ask for him this summer but all that could serve to do is kill his confidence and momentum vs tough pressure.
I know we REALLY need a player of his potential caliber but if we have the best interest of the kid in mind we call him up first camp next cycle.

18-YEAR-OLD JULIAN HALL IS THE YOUNGEST PLAYER IN MLS HISTORY TO SCORE A HAT TRICK!!! 🇺🇸

Dejan Joveljić will not stop scoring against his former club. 👀
@SportingKC double their lead just before the break!
English

@160_Swiftly It was wild seeing you guys let Maxi have space
English

@SOTUWithAlexi Grasping at straws? Brother, you’re literally vouching for CRISTIAN ROLDAN to be on the roster. If that’s where we’re at with our central midfield options, then McGlynn being in consideration really isn’t that far-fetched.
English

The 58 goals scored tonight marked the most in a single day in @MLS history, eclipsing the previous high of 57 done twice (Sept. 13, 2025 and Aug. 6, 2022).

English

@TWDTV1 If you knew me, you’d know how untrue your last sentence is. You’re right about Cardoso, but two wrongs don’t make a right. I could make a whole compilation of Berhalter errors with the USMNT over the past year. Don’t believe me? Watch the film.
English

@LookingBeyond2 He’s done better for the USMNT than Cardoso.
Berhalter has not had plenty of bad moments of turning possession over or struggling to operate in tight spaces, as Poch would never call him up if he did.
You are just deep in anti-MLS player bias here.
English

He’s so good in MLS. Shame it doesn’t translate to the international level

Sebastian Berhalter blast to equalize it! 🚀
English

@1776Bradley It’s unprecedented and I truly hope it only gets better from here on out
English

@ryder_mc3 @ManagerTactical It’s crazy he wasn’t considered long before this. He’s been a top keeper for at least the past two years. Guys like Jonathan Klinsmann got a shot before he did. Sad.
English

@LookingBeyond2 @ManagerTactical Would be nice to see Brad get a call up but I think it’s too close to the WC for him to even be considered
English

@usmntaut Someone has to make a full comp of him at the end of the season
English

@BrianSciaretta @herculezg But I was told MLS failed at developing players
