If we want better roads, better infrastructure, and better outcomes overall, we have to start by making sure the money we already spend is being used effectively. #ShowMeTheMoney

A department upgrades equipment before the old equipment has even reached the end of its useful life. The older equipment gets pushed into storage, sits unused, and eventually becomes obsolete.
That may not sound like a major issue on its own, but repeated across government, those decisions cost taxpayers real money.
Good stewardship means maximizing the value of what we already own before buying more.

South Carolina has incredible potential, but reaching that potential requires discipline. Clear priorities, strong oversight, and better financial systems will help move this state forward. #ShowMeTheMoney

"@EDSecMcMahon is exactly right.
South Carolina universities have been operating like they have an unlimited credit card funded by taxpayers and lottery players - with zero incentive to budget, economize, or live within their means.
Take @ClemsonUniv: They pocket direct state tax appropriations, millions in recurring tuition mitigation dollars from SC taxpayers just to “freeze” in-state tuition, and benefit from hundreds of millions in lottery-funded scholarships (LIFE, Palmetto Fellows, HOPE, etc.) flowing straight into their coffers every year.
Yet their debt has ballooned to $1.15 billion — over $38,800 per student — with total long-term liabilities hitting $2.65 billion. Trustees are now scrambling for emergency cost cuts because expenses keep exploding on their $2+ billion budget.
This is textbook fiscal irresponsibility.
When I’m elected SC Comptroller General, we’re finally having the honest, no-BS conversation about the real cost of tuition - not the subsidized version propped up by working South Carolinians.
The gravy train ends. SC families and taxpayers have had enough.
@ClemsonUniv alums, lottery players, and every South Carolinian paying the bill — what do you say?

The Trump Administration is ending the era of runaway tuition hikes fueled by unchecked borrowing access. Schools had no incentive to control costs and students, families, and taxpayers got stuck with the bill. We put a stop to it.

A strong financial system does more than track spending. It helps leaders make smarter decisions. When the numbers are clear and the data is accurate, waste becomes easier to identify and priorities become easier to fund. #ShowMeTheMoney

SCGOP and SCDP party chairmen should file public statements of economic interest. Full stop.
Republicans and Democrats deserve to know who is paying their chairman and how much. That’s not a radical position. It’s the same standard we hold for elected officials across South Carolina government.
This should not be controversial at all.
The part that tells you everything: they’re fighting it. Hard.
When the people running your party’s transparency infrastructure are the loudest voices against transparency for themselves, that’s not a coincidence. That’s a tell. The resistance is the argument.
Keep pushing. Accountability doesn’t have an exemption for the people who run the exemption process.

A project gets delayed, but the funding continues to flow. Deadlines slip, costs increase, and accountability becomes harder to track.
Without clear checkpoints, projects can continue consuming resources without delivering results.
That’s how budgets grow without outcomes. And that’s exactly what better oversight is meant to prevent. #ShowMeTheMoney

Transparency is not about overwhelming people with data.
It’s about giving citizens and lawmakers clear, usable information so they can understand where money is going and whether it’s being spent wisely.
When the numbers are clear, better decisions follow. #ShowMeTheMioney

Projects often start with large teams to get things moving. But over time, the workload changes, and sometimes the team size doesn’t.
Without regular review, you end up paying for more capacity than the project actually requires.
That’s not about cutting corners, it’s about aligning resources with reality and making sure taxpayer dollars are being used efficiently. #ShowMeTheMoney

Accountability doesn’t happen by accident. It happens when there are clear systems, good data, and people willing to ask questions. #ShowMeTheMoney

What does this mean for SC 6th Congressional District?
Sean Davis@seanmdav
BREAKING: In a 6-3 decision, the Supreme Court rules that racial gerrymandering, which has been used to create majority black congressional districts for decades, is unconstitutional. Justice Samuel Alito wrote the opinion for the majority.
