
This afternoon, MISO is hosting its annual Summer Readiness Workshop, sharing the 2026 outlook with stakeholders on capacity, operations and the season ahead.
This year's Planning Resource Auction produced approximately 142.6 GW of summer capacity, up about 4.8 GW from last year, with new solar additions as the largest contributor. Those additions position the region well to meet an expected summer peak of around 125 GW.
With nearly double the solar capacity on the system compared to last year, MISO has refined how it manages shifting net load patterns, steep ramps and evening reliability risks through updated reserve requirements and enhanced forecasting tools.
