@pusscrumb @philip2045 @LatinxPutler i don't know tbh but i'd always assumed it was the community that burned it down. they'd already swept the place and gathered evidence of what was going on. i thought it was burned so the traffickers couldn't make use of it.

@mmabeuf @philip2045 @LatinxPutler Was it the parents who set the fire? At the time it seemed the house caught fire either during or shortly after the rescue and the cops were involved.

@ParentiSoundSys @bridgietherease And that's not a new thing either. Random platoons in Vietnam were told by a colonel or major that they were going out on an ordinary patrol but the higher ups knew that they were sending those troops to be used as bait on a suicide mission.

I shouldn't be coming here to put random people on blast but this is an example of what I was taking about in that other thread. People aren't failing to get the facts, they're getting the facts and peer-to-peer learning new techniques for excusing those facts in real time.

Thought about this because of the weird trivia that I learned recently that the woman who wrote "9 1/2 Weeks" (Ingeborg Day) was the daughter of an Austrian cop turned SS officer, and also wrote a memoir about trying to understand who her father really was and what he had done.

Studying how the local police forces in Nazi-aligned states like Hungary and Austria came under the control of the SS and how they were deployed as accessories would probably be illuminating.

@Lib_Pandemic @jack_meditates2 @ganjahgawd You only need to wrangle a small number of cops to actually be in on the conspiracy. The culture of "shut up, follow orders and don't ask questions" takes care of the rest. These guys all know if they say anything they're going to get suicided.

@Lib_Pandemic @jack_meditates2 @ganjahgawd And the shootings have escalated in their frequency and outrageousness slowly over the last 20 years, which probably reflects the amount of time that it's taken to actually build these networks of fascists within the local police departments.

The cops aren't incompetent and they aren't cowards. They want the massacre to happen and they will use force to stop anyone from disrupting the massacre.

@insert_name29 The Catch 22 being that these beliefs are only the domain of curmudgeons because so few people will admit to believing them, so they don't ever form an uncontroversial narrative that you can just refer to without explaining and insisting upon.

@insert_name29 right, you want to have the counter-hegemonic beliefs but not the anti-social personality that it takes to doubt the official narrative, spend all of your time researching, and insist upon while being ridiculed.

They saw what was going on and did what was necessary to protect their kids, despite the cops (and certain podcasters) insisting that they weren't seeing what they were actually seeing.

While we're here lets take a minute to remember the parents in Milwaukee a few summers ago who stormed that sex trafficker house, rescued the kids and then burned the place down.
