Major League Baseball should not benefit from an exclusion of antitrust laws, especially after the league’s recent religious discrimination against numerous players this week, Sen, Josh Hawley, R-Missouri, told The Lion in an interview.
“Major League Baseball gets a special sweetheart deal that no other sport gets, and no other business gets. They are exempt from the antitrust laws. That is worth billions of dollars to Major League Baseball every year. It was created by the Supreme Court year and years ago. Frankly, I think it's wrong,” Hawley said.
Antitrust laws of the federal government exist to break up and prevent monopolies in various businesses, industries and sports throughout the country. MLB is the only sport association exempt from these laws, and Hawley says they are abusing their privilege.
“I think we ought to reverse it,” he said. “Given the way they're choosing to use this enormous power to punish people of faith while they force them to wear political messages and endorse political messages that are truly controversial, they don't agree with. I just think it's outrageous.”

Security will always be Israel’s top priority, Israeli journalist Amit Segal told The Lion and other media groups last week in Jerusalem. “When it comes to the structure of the system in Israel, the focus is on security rather than the economy,” he said. “You are all familiar with the 1992 saying from the Clinton campaign: ‘It’s the economy, stupid.’ In Israel: ‘It’s the security, stupid.’” Israelis will always consider “living” over “cost of living” in any election because the country is “always one decision short of not existing or being in an existential threat,” he said. But the respective leaders, not the people, are to blame for the continual unresolved conflict, Palestinian politician Samer Sinijlawi also told reporters. “For different reasons, the continuation of the conflict is serving the interest of the current leaders,” he said. Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas is indifferent toward the suffering and death of his own people, Sinijlawi said.

Yesterday, I visited the ancients ruins of the traditional site of the Tabernacle in Shiloh before David moved Israel’s capital to Jerusalem. The stones here date from first century A.D. homes built on the site, but the foundations beneath these homes likely mark the tabernacle’s temporary resting place. The dimensions match those recorded in the Pentateuch, and the tabernacle sat on a hill in the sight of homes surrounding the hill, 360 degrees in the mountainous landscape.
Here, Hannah prayed for a son, and the Lord answered her with the birth of Samuel.

Yesterday I visited the first century A.D. ruins of Bet Shana—a city near the Sea of Galilee.
We hiked up for an overlook of the city and Jordan to the East. Our tour guide contrasted much of the Roman’s’ culture (baths, death games etc) with the customs of first century Jews, noting their longing for a Messiah to free them from the immoral empire.
