Putrajaya today urged Malaysians to compare prices and make informed purchasing decisions amid the ongoing global supply pressures linked to the West Asia conflict.
Economy Minister Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir said the government is continuing weekly monitoring of domestic food prices while encouraging the public to use the government-run PriceCatcher mobile application to check and compare prices before making purchases.
“To the public, we encourage the use of the PriceCatcher application. Compare prices. Be a smart consumer because purchasing power lies in your hands,” he said.
He said this during a livestreamed briefing after the 12th meeting of the National Economic Action Council (MTEN).

Police are investigating a viral video showing a driver pouring liquid into a bottle while driving a bus, which was shared by a social media user on Threads last Thursday.
Taiping district police chief ACP Abd Malek Ismail said the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division of the Taiping district police headquarters had received information regarding the video, which was recorded by one of the bus passengers before being uploaded on social media.
“Initial checks found that the exact location of the incident has yet to be identified. However, based on conversations in the comments section, the account owner expressed concern that the incident occurred near the area after the Menora Tunnel, which posed a risk to passenger safety,” he said in a statement.
Abd Malek said police are also still tracing the bus company involved as well as the actual route taken by the bus, adding that the case could be investigated under Section 42 of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless and dangerous driving.

The Road Transport Department (JPJ) has agreed to immediately restore its online transfer of vehicle ownership (THM) transaction service, with any future suspension for system upgrades to be carried out only during the long holiday period this weekend.
Transport Minister Anthony Loke said the decision was made following discussions with JPJ director-general Datuk Aedy Fadly Ramli, after media reports emerged last night about the suspension of the service.
“JPJ informed the ministry regarding abuse and fraud involving the ownership transfer system, which resulted in liabilities that had to be borne by the department. Therefore, JPJ needs to carry out improvements to the online system as soon as possible.
“However, I have advised JPJ to ensure that system enhancement works do not disrupt the daily affairs of ordinary users or cause major congestion at JPJ offices,” he said in a Facebook post today.

At night, Bukit Bintang has no shortage of drinking spots, from bars to pubs and izakayas.
And at first glance, @kin.no.tsubo may appear to be just one of these, where the most compelling thing offered is a happy hour beer promotion, and the food is second-rate.
But instead, inside one will find great yakitori, from skewers of juicy thigh, to crunchy bonjiri (the bishop's nose) and seseri (neck) to offal like liver, heart and outer gizzard.
Some fried dishes are surprisingly good, including the nankotsu karaage (fried chicken cartilage) and agedashi tofu, which comes in a thickened tsuyu broth (dashi, sake and mirin).
But the signature offering of oden is the highlight, served Himeji-style with a ginger and soy sauce dip.

The Malaysian government is prepared to take the Zionist regime to the International Court of Justice (ICJ) once lawyers complete the collection of information and supporting evidence.
Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said the legal action follows alleged acts of brutality, including kidnapping and torture involving activists from the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) 2.0 humanitarian mission, particularly Malaysian participants.
According to Utusan Malaysia, Amirudin said the move will be followed by continued diplomatic pressure by the government to demand the full liberation of Gaza.
“We will not remain silent, we will not stop. While the legal team gathers all documentation on violations of international law, they (GSF participants) were kidnapped more than once, they were tortured,” he said.

The Road Transport Department (JPJ) has announced the suspension of the online service for change of vehicle ownership effective today, encompassing all digital channels, including public portal, kiosks, JPJ business partners MyEG and eAuto Sdn Bhd.
JPJ director-general Datuk Aedy Fadly Ramli said the immediate control measure was taken following several official and social media complaints about incidents where vehicle ownership was changed without the knowledge of their registered owners.
“JPJ views the matter seriously, especially those involving maintenance and the safety record of vehicles registered in the department’s system.
“As such, beginning May 25, all vehicle ownership change matters for individual ownership and private company ownership must be conducted through JPJ counters,” he said in a statement yesterday.

The death toll rose to three today in the collapse of a building under construction near the Philippine capital, with 17 people still believed missing, authorities said.
Two workers pinned beneath the wreckage were found alive after the nine-storey structure gave way yesterday, hitting a nearby hotel and killing a Malaysian guest.
But the two workers trapped at the site in Angeles, which is north of the capital Manila, died despite rescue efforts.
“The first of the two was pulled out alive, but unfortunately, his body gave out and he did not survive. Doctors could not resuscitate him,” regional fire bureau spokeswoman Maria Leah Sajili told AFP.
