It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Eamonn Boylan OBE, former Chief Executive of Greater Manchester Combined Authority and Transport for Greater Manchester. Under his leadership Greater Manchester became a trailblazer for devolution, unlocking new powers and responsibilities, and taking buses back under public control for the first time in 40 years.

⏰ Clocks go forward an hour tomorrow (Sunday 29 March). While you're setting your clocks, take a minute to test your smoke alarms too. A working smoke alarm gives you extra time to escape if a fire does occur in your home - press the button until it sounds.

🔥 Wildfires can quickly spread. 📞If you see a fire, call 999. If you live in a rural area or an area prone to grass or wildfires - check your property and surroundings for fire hazards and manage vegetation, to reduce the risk of a fire spreading to your property. #BeMoorAware

This month, our crews have been out engaging with residents in Salford, Stockport and Wigan who live in flood warning areas to encourage them to sign up to the Environment Agency's free flood warning service. Organised by the Greater Manchester Resilience Forum, our firefighters were joined in this effort by partners including @StockportMBC, @SalfordCouncil, @WiganCouncil and the @EnvAgency, and collectively, we visited 1000 properties over four days. A special thank you to our fire service volunteers, who gave up their time to support us in delivering this vital information across Greater Manchester. If we visited you, thank you for your time, and if you received a flyer with information through your door, please take the time to read it. To check your property's flood risk, and to see if you are eligible to receive flood alerts and warnings from the Environment Agency, visit orlo.uk/2IOJp
