Coming next is the Senate budget at noon, so stay tuned. Still, not an auspicious start to the day. The entire education community (management, labor, charters, etc.) said "shift to true weighted funding" and the House budget simply didn't. Senate should be better news though.

House budget has a 2.5% increase in foundation ($250/pupil) GSRP foundation & ISD operations & a 5% increase in several weights (At Risk, ELL, CTE, rural/isolated, etc.). The fdn & ISD funding is same as the Gov, the rest is below. Most disappointing, no restructuring of weights.

House K-12 & MDE Appropriations is meeting this morning to adopt the House recommendations for the School Aid and MDE budget for FY 26/27. Senate PK-12 Approps is meeting at noon. We should have all the budget recs on the table by the end of the day. #miched #mibudget

Edsel Ford High School held a charity week last week. Students could purchase a passport to participate in different activities each day. The March 26 events included a staff vs students basketball game and Bob Ross inspired painting session.
