Families are already struggling as electricity prices are set to soar. The ‘wait and see’ approach of Micheál Martin won’t cut it - people need action, now!

Micheál Martin says he’s not failing anybody. Not listening. Out of touch. He wants you to wait until NEXT JANUARY for any chance of cost of living supports. Prices and bills are going up now. Families are struggling now. People need help now. They can’t wait!

Sending best wishes to the members of An Garda Síochána who were injured in Monaghan yesterday. It appears that there could easily have been a fatality. The whole community is united in hopes that they make a full recovery.

What on earth are Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael doing locking the protesters out of the talks, talks that are meant to be about addressing the fuel crisis.   They  are making an absolute shambles of things - escalating this crisis instead of doing their job. They need to lift the phone, engage with the protesters and hear what they have to say.  The priority has to be ending the protests, getting fuel prices down and doing this as quickly as possible.

Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael need to meet with the agricultural contractors, farmers and hauliers who are out on protest due to rising fuel prices which have people under huge pressure. Sneers and threats from government need to stop. If the government had listened to Sinn Féin weeks ago, all of this would have been avoided. Their half measure were never going to work. Prices are too high, way beyond what people can afford. We need prices to come down. The Dáil should be sitting to pass the emergency measures needed.

The Dáil should be meeting this week to pass our emergency legislation to cut taxes on diesel, petrol & home heating oil. Workers, families, businesses and farmers need supports; not a government on holidays. Speaking at protest meeting in Manorhamilton, Co. Leitrim last night.

I am very sorry to learn of the passing of Dr. Rory O’Hanlon. He was a pivotal figure of Cavan Monaghan politics for decades and will be fondly remembered. Deepest sympathies to his family and to his colleagues in Fianna Fáil. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dilís.

The tax measures by Fianna Fáil & Fine Gael are far too little, far too late. But the battle is not over. We will continue to fight for meaningful cuts to the costs of diesel, petrol & home heating oil!

Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael don’t care about working people! Yesterday you were shortchanged again. 750,000 households who rely on home heating oil abandoned. Sinn Féin proposed removing excise duty. That would have provided real relief. We won’t settle for half measures. We’ll continue to fight your corner for what you deserve.

Many local roads are in atrocious conditions yet Fine Gael & Fianna Fáil have allocated less funding this year than last in Monaghan & Cavan for restoration. Simon Harris tries to wash his hands off the situation but he & Micheál Martin must increase funding towards our roads.

FF & FG have been far TOO SLOW to accept SFs proposals to cut fuel taxes. Now they’re falling TOO SHORT of what’s needed. Half measures won’t do it. Families & businesses are struggling. They need maximum cuts to taxes on petrol, diesel & HEATING OIL. We’ll keep the pressure on!

Mark Lohan was selected as the party candidate for the Galway West by-election and his name will now go forward to the Ard Chomhairle for formal ratification. The campaign starts now to elect Mark as the next TD for Galway West.
