For weeks, Tom Barrett was silent after JD Vance threatened 650 jobs at the Lansing Grand River auto plant. Now he’s silent as Mike Johnson calls for the repeal of the CHIPS Act, which would threaten thousands more manufacturing jobs in our state. Tom Barrett’s silence speaks volumes. Either he’s unwilling to stand up to leaders in his own party, or unwilling to stand up for the people he’s seeking to represent. Regardless, it’s disqualifying.
