Earlier today @Extheo took the @blinkbtc stage with an insightful talk on why Lightning is winning the African settlement race. He shared how @mavapay is using the Lightning Network to make cross-border settlement between countries faster, cheaper, and far more seamless, without relying on stablecoin rails or expensive legacy systems. An interesting takeaway was that volatility is a holding risk, not a settlement risk. What matters is building infrastructure that simplifies payments for everyday businesses across Africa. #abct26

Day four of our Pre-@abcptza Lightning Developer Bootcamp in Cape Town was intense and highly engaging ⚡️🇿🇦 @Extheo began the day by reviewing progress from yesterday’s assignment, with several impressive implementations on display. From there, we went deeper into the Lightning Network using @lightningpolar. Participants spun up Lightning nodes via the terminal, created and decoded invoices, examined HTLCs, explored the state of the Lightning Network, and simulated payments between Lightning nodes. To close out the day, participants were grouped into teams to prepare for tomorrow’s hackathon presentations. We’re excited to see what they will build and present. We officially kicked off our Lightning Developer Bootcamp today in Cape Town in partnership with @abcptza as a pre event to the upcoming conference. 🇿🇦🇿🇦 Day one focused on building a solid foundation and was led by @Extheo . Participants explored an introduction to Bitcoin, the evolution of money, and how Bitcoin addresses key limitations of the traditional fiat system. We also examined Bitcoin transactions and the blockchain, analyzed a live Bitcoin block using @mempool , and reviewed real transaction flows in detail.
