Ok, so we have a (*new!*) new potential record for largest IL hailstone found on 3/10/2026. Thank you to the Dorris family for letting us measure! I expect this to be the new IL record, but it will not be final until the SCEC meets to vote.

A first look at the percent of normal snowfall for the Midwest for meteorological winter reveals: ⬇️ Below normal snowflal for much of MN, IA, northern IL, and northern MO ⬆️Above normal snowfall for parts of Michigan's UP, southern Ohio, southern Indiana, and northern KY

With the change-up to a more spring-like pattern also comes significant warmups between severe weather threats. In fact, record-warm temperatures are anticipated in a broad area in the U.S. from the Plains to the East Coast over the next week. Visit weather.gov for the latest.

#Indy has reached 68 degrees so far today (not long after 1 PM), setting a new record for the date. The old record was 66 degrees, last reached in 2017. Temperatures will continue to climb this afternoon! #inwx

Has it felt dry this winter? You're not imagining it. So far this winter (Dec. 1-Present), it is the driest or near-driest winter in many locations. These precipitation totals take into account both rain and snow. The rain part has been very lacking this winter.
