Actually I disagree with this and I was critical of Bitkey at first But what they’ve done really well is Proof of Work at @Square … when you’re in America, using the cashapp/square ecosystem, across products… You’re like “wait a second… for the bitcoin I am actually spending this makes so much sense” I think people greatly underestimate how absolutely massive Cashapp is in America, so many of my friends actually RELY on it My friends don’t care about Bitcoin but strangely enough they know the ins and outs of Cashapp better than even I do… Jack is right when he says that Cashapp is a neighborhood technology It’s humble, it taps into the humility of everyday life in places like Chicago And now, for a bitcoiner, this is all seamless… this experience feels fast, intuitive, and nearly magical… I want to tip my favorite artists on Tidal… done I want to pay for my lunch in bitcoin… done I want to earn bitcoin to pay for my bitkey… done Square terminals are LITERALLY everywhere now It’s just… working. I won’t lie, it took me experiencing this to really see the vision Bitkey does not and will not replace my cold storage options but for my lite spendable wallets… actually it’s the hardware wallet that makes THE MOST sense to me, now, for the environment I spend in And maybe that’s what @jack is talking about as far an intelligence layer deriving high signal desires from customers I think this has been incredibly well done and I find it impressive how in tune these teams are with the every day American That’s empathy in action.

We’re seeing a lot of excitement around the @Square bitcoin payments announcement. Just to clarify what's actually rolling out and when: On Monday, 100% of newly onboarded, eligible U.S. sellers were enabled by default (when using payments). For existing sellers, we’re starting with a smaller (though very sizable) cohort and expanding gradually. While our recent TOS update gives us flexibility to scale over time, we’re intentionally rolling this out in phases to ensure a smooth experience for our sellers. As I said earlier in the week, we only have one shot to do this right and we are doing it very intentionally 🫡

look mate, congrats on the launch it’s cool, regardless i’ve been told for a full 10 years now (120 months) that lightning will become the global open payments network and i think i’ve personally seen enough evidence to the contrary by now if you still have the capacity to believe in that vision i am genuinely envious of you. no shade
