Mary Lou McDonald and I have spoken today with SNP leader John Swinney and Plaid Cymru leader Rhun ap Iorwerth. The momentum for constitutional change across these islands is now greater than ever. People in Ireland, Scotland and Wales are looking towards a future beyond the Union, where we have full control over our own affairs. We discussed the enormous significance of this week’s election results, and the historic potential of having three nationalist, pro-independence First Ministers. We agreed to continue working together to strengthen the friendship between our nations, and to stand up for the democratic right of our people to self-determination.

For the first time ever, there could be three nationalist, pro-Independence First Ministers across these islands. Historic change is happening. The demand for independence is growing.

I have contacted SNP leader John Swinney and Plaid Cymru leader Rhun ap Iorwerth to congratulate them on their enormous mandates. For the first time ever, there could be three pro-independence First Ministers across these islands. More and more people are looking towards a future beyond the constraints of the Union. I look forward to continuing to build the friendship between the people of our nations, and to working closely with both John and Rhun in the time ahead.

Today political leaders and Ministers from across Ireland will meet in Armagh to discuss how we can work together to better people’s lives across the island. We can, and always will, achieve far more when we work together in the interests of all the people and communities who call this island home. That is my priority.

🚆 New, modern, and faster trains between Belfast and Dublin are coming soon! Today we signed off on over £500 million to help transform our all-Ireland rail services. This is an investment in our people, our communities, and our flourishing all-Ireland economy.

Delighted to visit Gaelcholáiste Dhoire in Dungiven to see the school’s incredible growth. In just ten years, it has grown from 16 pupils to more than 360 pupils, a remarkable achievement by the school and local community. The Irish language is experiencing incredible growth across Ireland, and I am committed to supporting the development of Irish-medium education. Sinn Féin is bringing forward a bill to ensure Irish-language schools have the staff they need to meet demand. Ní neart go cur le chéile! 💚

Keir Starmer’s government is raking in millions extra in fuel taxes every day as petrol, diesel and energy costs rise. Yet they are choosing not to support workers and families who are being squeezed to breaking point. I’ve met and challenged Keir Starmer directly on this, and I’ll continue to do all I can to have the backs of workers and families here.

Investing in our rural communities and delivering better services for people is a must. Really pleased that an investment of £2 million will be going into programmes to empower people, create better opportunities, and make a real difference to everyday life across rural Ireland. This funding, delivered through a joint effort by the Executive and PEACE PLUS, is about giving our communities the support to thrive.

In cases where one parent takes the life of the other, that parent can still have parental responsibility for the child. We're now bringing forward a new law to change that.

👏🏻❤️ Today is a massive day for our deaf and deafblind community and their families, as Irish and British sign languages are now recognised as official languages. This means additional services will be put in place to ensure our deaf community is fully included and supported. I am especially delighted that we will be leading the way by providing free sign language classes for all deaf children and their families. I want to thank everyone who has campaigned and worked tirelessly for this transformative law over many years, today belongs to each and every one of you !🙌🏻

We have incredible hospitality businesses and a globally renowned food offering. I was delighted to attend the launch of Ireland’s Next Top Chef 2026, a fantastic competition showcasing the talent, creativity and passion of our chefs. I want to commend the organisers for this initiative to champion and celebrate our hospitality workers. It was also great to meet some of our hospitality business owners this evening. Best of luck to all the contestants, I don’t envy the judges! 👏🏻

💚 Activism is at the core of Sinn Féin, and meeting with our activists and others in attendance from across Ireland at our Ard Fheis is always the highlight of the weekend. This is the strongest Sinn Féin has been in over a century, and we are building for Ireland’s future.

The Ireland I’m working to build is one that belongs to everyone who shares this island, nationalist, unionist, and those who are neither. We must move beyond the constraints of partition, which has divided our communities and limited our potential for far too long, and build a brighter future together.

Those behind last night’s attack in Dunmurry speak for absolutely no one. They have no vision, no support, and have nothing to offer our society. Our communities deserve peace. No one is going to deny our young people and future generations that. We will keep progressing and we will keep moving forward to a better future. I have been in contact with local representatives to extend my solidarity and support to all those impacted.

🇵🇸 It was my honour to welcome Palestinian Ambassador, Jilan Wahba Abdalmajid, to our Sinn Féin Ard Fheis. I extended the continued support and solidarity of the people of Ireland to the people of Palestine, especially those enduring genocide in Gaza.
