I know this may sound insensitive, even though I know I can be a victim of this menace tomorrow, I think the govt should criminalise crowdfunding for kidnapped cases and any account used for such should be flagged. Back then kidnapping used to be targeted but since the whole idea of public crowdfunding started, the incidence of kidnapping is spreading like wildfire. These days, kidnappers can just randomly pickup market women or farmers from their farms, tell them to make a video and put it out, then call 50-100M naira even though they know these people can never afford it, then circulate the video for people to start crowdfunding. The broader the targets the more difficult it is for our security personnel (even though they can do more) to hit or neutralize these idiots wrecking havoc in our society. PS: let's not confuse kidnappers for bandits and terrorists.

Psychologically , I don’t think a kidnap victim can ever be 100% okay again.
