Nigeria has never had as many out-of-school children as it has between 2023 and today. In just three states, over 1k children were recruited into terrorist sects. Child hunger has gone up by 130%. Only 6.1% budgeted for education and 4.3% for health. Happy Children’s Day!

Sen Oluremi Tinubu, CON@SenRemiTinubu

MESSAGE BY THE FIRST LADY OF THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA, HER EXCELLENCY, SENATOR OLUREMI TINUBU, CON, ON CHILDREN’S DAY 2026 (WEDNESDAY, MAY 27, 2026). As we celebrate this year’s Children’s Day, I extend my well wishes and heartfelt love to every child across our great nation. This year’s theme, “Future Now: Promoting Inclusion for Every Nigerian Child,” reminds us that the future we desire for our children must begin today. Our children are not just the leaders of tomorrow; they are active participants in shaping our present. My message to children on this special day is to take ownership of today in a responsible and purposeful manner. The future you desire is shaped by the choices you make now. It is important to stay focused, make wise decisions, and use your time productively. A brighter tomorrow cannot be achieved by pursuing destructive or unrealistic paths, but by building your character, discipline, and a commitment to learning and growth. Happy Children’s Day to all our wonderful children! 𝐒𝐞𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫 𝐎𝐥𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐢 𝐓𝐢𝐧𝐮𝐛𝐮, 𝐂𝐎𝐍⁣ 𝐅𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐋𝐚𝐝𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐅𝐞𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐑𝐞𝐩𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐜 𝐨𝐟 𝐍𝐢𝐠𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐚

Well it literally happened in a telegram rape group chat of over 70,000 men, the recently uncovered rape academy and even Pelicot’s husband inviting over 90 men to rape his wife? The more you try to deny and dismiss the prevalence of sexual violence, the more normalized it is

@author_pandp They think men just be chilling and one of them be like “brooo I raped tf out this girl last night man” and they all congratulate him

Women are berating another woman for showing her birth process. You’re encouraging and aiding silence culture around reproductive health and reproduction and your purity-culture ridden brain cannot see how that is an issue.

Hot take: A downside to our attempt at normalizing childfree adults, is that some of us have begun to actually HATE children who are already here. Honestly that is between you and your therapist to unpack, but here’s my thing; Children are the responsibility of society. No matter who they belong to, it is our responsibility as members of society to keep them safe at all times and never pose a threat to them.

My mummy called me to wish me happy children’s day and to show me the fur hat with kitten ears she bought for me because she saw them and thought I would love them. Yea, she made me smile so hard.

I actually think if you talk about a woman’s vagina being ruined by men it’s misogynistic & regressive no matter if you’re a man or a lesbian

Today is children’s day, but 46 innocent children learning in their classrooms in Ogbomosho, Oyo state were kidnapped by gunmen. It’s been two painful weeks already and these children are still not home with their families, suffering out there in the cold and enduring fear and uncertainty that no child should ever know. This is a National crisis and the government must use every resource necessary to bring these children home. Nothing else matters in this moment. We owe our children a safer country.

There’s children spending Children’s day in captivity because the Nigerian government does not deem their lives valuable enough to rescue them and to stop insecurity and insurgency. It’s a terrible children’s day, there’s nothing happy about it.

let me tell you, constantly being concerned about likeability will just bring you a lifetime of disrespect. people don't necessarily have to like you, you are not jollof rice. just ensure that you are respected by delivering consequences to those who do not. grow a fucking spine

I’ve been begging everyone on this Akwete matter. The argument is usually about scale, but we will never achieve that if we keep importing rubbish. We are killing the same thing we wish to protect and preserve. Seriously, we need to course correct now.

i know that sometimes it comes down to costs but it's important that we don't allow chinese manufacturers kill local fabrics. we should stop buying printed asoke, akwaete adire and akwaocha. if we stop buying the real thing, these fabrics will go extinct.
